Thank you for your input! I have a 4.0 in both undergrad and grad school. I got a 167 with balancing grad school course work and TFA in a turn around school in STL... Which I know puts me in a rough spot for negotiating aid. Thank you for the honest insight, however! I'll reflect on that as I apply.laurossman wrote:From what I've read it seems Georgetown gives aid to about 40%, maybe even less. Therefore, only the top 40% get any sort of aid, so even if your numbers put you at the median, I wouldn't expect much if anything, assuming they give aid based on numbers entirely.rkillian0830 wrote:First post on TLS... been lurking since the October LSAT. So, first and foremost, hello.
Georgetown is my top choice (SO is currently attending their Med School). For those who were recently accepted or have experience applying, how have you handled/plan to handle negotiating for aid? Georgetown is obviously stingy... but, what steps will you be taking this cycle?
Also, what scores do you think would be the minimum for getting some form of financial aid?
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Wasn't trying to tell her she couldn't get aid, especially given that I didn't know her numbers when I answered the question. Also, only about 10% of students receive half off or more, so it really depends what you mean by "deece." She was asking about a numbers cut off, and to me it seems she could make the cut off, if there is one. And if only 40% receive any form of merit aid, then there almost definitely is one.Gray wrote:PM me if you have questions, it's an awesome program IMOltbenn wrote:Anyone applying for global scholars?
Also the info in the post quoted above isn't really correct - You can get deece $$ with a 4.0/167. It's not the top 40% who get the money, it's the people who negotiate aggressively. Get offers from lower ranked schools and leverage the shit out of them. also, need based aid exists and is determined separately.

At least for the group interview I was at, the discussion centered around the admissions process (should we accept candidate A or B?), so it might help a little if you understand how that works. But you don't need to prep, it's informal and a little fun, just be professional.slippin_jimmy wrote:Group interviewees, please confirm that I don't really need to 'prep' for this right?

Hi, all! Checking in-- submitted thurs. after receiving my LSAT score (167/3.9). How soon after getting your status checker did you get an invitation to interview? Also, any idea of what the avg turn-around this cycle has been? Thank you! Best of luck to you all

Yeah it means they are done reviewing and you should be getting your desicion soon. That's how mine worked.benwyatt wrote:Strange, neurotic question:
Is there anyone whose status checker says "Application Complete" instead of "Application Completed"?
I remember some discussion about it a few pages back and it seems to be a common thing in years past but I couldn't find any consensus on what it means.
FWIW, mine says "Application Completed" and I applied on day 1 of the app and had a group interview last week.

Mine says completed but I applied Friday? So I'm not sure how valid that isliyorah wrote:Yeah it means they are done reviewing and you should be getting your desicion soon. That's how mine worked.benwyatt wrote:Strange, neurotic question:

I don't know then. Mine changed and two days later I got my acceptance. Maybe they just finished reviewing but they can take their time to decide? Either way I'm sure you'll know soon enough.benwyatt wrote:Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. ETA: according to last year's spreadsheets, the average days between interview and initial decision was 11. Hoping I get a decision this week, but I'll have to come in under 11 days for that.
