Ya, I got one too. I wonder what it's all about? Although on the status checker page it says you will not receive any information past complete via status checker but in the email it says different decision outcomes the status checker could give you.
Scratch that it doesn't say that those decision tyo s would come via status checker specifically.

Ninja'd. I got it too. I don't think it means anything. Maybe it was meant as season greetings?
+1
Mine was labeled "season's greetings from columbia law school" is that what yours was?

I also got something to the effect of thank you for applying in the subject line (which sounds like the opening to a rejection letter if I ever heard one). I wonder why you got season's greetings? Fancy.

Huh is this the same email? Mine said that the status checker will only say complete and nothing further after that...
I got the following, along with an explanation for what my decision could look like (i.e., Admit, Hold, Reserve, Deny):
Columbia Law School wrote: We were so happy to see that you have submitted an application for admission to Columbia Law School's J.D. program. Over the coming months, we'll continue to send along information about the Law School and the application process. Should you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you TLS, for letting me know I wasn't alone in getting that email. The subject line had me thinking ding for sure.

Maybe those who have received interview requests got the "Seasons Greetings" titled email? and the rest of us got the terrifying "Thank you" titled one? It would be kind of weird if they had sent the "Thank you" email to people with whom they had already had measurable correspondence with about their apps.

Basically just trying to convince myself that this isn't an auto-ding

Interesting... mine was:

(nothing about status check besides complete)

Many of our prospective applicants express concern that law schools only focus on quantitative factors. When we say that we employ a holistic process to reviewing applications, we mean it. It's an approach that we employ based on our belief that our students are not just numbers. Our diversity of backgrounds and interests is a key element that makes Columbia an amazing place to begin your legal career.

And finally, do keep in mind that we're here for you. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch at (212) 854-2670 or email us at admissions@law.columbia.edu.

Have a wonderful holiday!

No, I got the Thank You and interviewed over a month ago (I think - would have to go back and check the date, but it's been a while). Not sure there's any clear pattern to any of it.

I have received an interviewed request and got the "Thank you" e-mail. Don't think it means anything at all.

Yeah I got the seasons greeting email.

Oddly formatted. It had a chunk of text that was like "put text here."

Also didn't have a space between my first and last name.

Maybe these emails were sent inadvertently? They appear to be quite odd.

Perhaps Columbia was worried about their TLS post numbers: "NYU is pulling away! Quick, send the cryptic emails from the draft folder! That'll get them confused and talking"

Honestly guys, Columbia does this. I remember last year it kept sending emails to those waiting for decisions emails the contents of which thanked them for their interest. I think it's their way of dragging us along lol.

Yup, I did. Treat it like a job interview.
They say "We recommend business casual; however, you may wear whatever you believe to be appropriate while being mindful of the interview context." I didn't wear a jacket and tie.

Yeah, I got the same recommendation for all my interviews and most of the job interviews I've ever been on... I've never listened, always gone suit and tie. Would find it strange if someone came into my office for an interview in a button down and khakis no matter what the email told them.

I got the thanks for applying email a month or two back and the holiday email today. I think everyone gets those and if you applied later you might just be getting it today, whereas if you applied earlier and already got it they send some holiday cheers your way. Probably just want to keep themselves on your mind since decisions are still gonna be awhile.

This. Definitely this.

Because we all know adcoms everywhere are compensated on TLS forum post counts.
