Of course, if you live in the bay area like I do, knowing that is not incredibly useful (since I know lots of people with 650 area code numbers).
wow. sorry, man, that would be so frustrating.
on the other hand you live in the greatest place on earth so I don't feel especially bad for you
ETA I am bored of this now irrelevant poll! any suggestions for a new one?

Curious how people feel about Harvard vs. Stanford if we wanted to do something like that... although I'm definitely not trying to spark any debates in this thread

simply just suggesting something like this out of curiosity:
Pick one:
- - Harvard
- Stanford
- Columbia with $
- Chicago with $
- NYU with $$
Or something along those lines?

I think that would be interesting (including Yale though). And if we were able to have the poll on all three of the HYS threads, it would be neat to see how biases weigh the data based on which school thread the poll is in.

+1. I would like to see some debate of this kind. I've seen all the old H versus Y versus S threads, but the more info/opinions the better on this subject IMHO.

If anyone has an argument for taking Y over S, I'd love to hear your input.

Yea, my bad - just a case of accidental bias because I didn't apply there. It should definitely include Yale, too.

I got an invitation to apply in the mail yesterday. It included a letter from the dean, a letter from the veterans association there (I'm a veteran), and information about applying for a fee waiver. This is all great, except I live abroad and the mail came AFTER I already submitted my application... Sucks to have blown the fee waiver opportunity.
But I'm not complaining. It's prolly a good sign SLS sends you an interest letter, right? The question is, though, how good of a sign is it really? How many of you guys have gotten it? Does it correlate in any way to actual admittance?

From other schools that gave out fee waivers/ wooed people, not much of a boost; but I think your case must be different because you are a veteran and they specifically tailored the woo letter to your personal history!

ugh this poll is like my whole decision process, I would not be able to choose
I'm cool with it as long as people share their reasoning so that I can shamelessly ape it. I'll put it up when I am not on my phone.

I think it's a really good sign. I'm a vet and I haven't heard anyone else in the vet forum say they've gotten an invitation to apply. At a LAWS forum, Dean Deal said that she asks the veterans on campus to reach out to others & are her "eyes and ears" since they don't do interviews. I'd say def reply back to the vet poc in the letter.
Did anyone else (especially those accepted) receive a woo letter?

Thank you (and altf4)! Well, I certainly had thought I wouldn't get in because I'm super super K-JD, so don't loose hope!
What does super super KJD mean? Like, you won't be able to drink at your own graduation party in the spring because you skipped 5 grades?

Congratulations on your acceptance!

I'd be interested to see that poll as well.
It seems like TLS common wisdom is that Stanford vs Harvard comes mostly down to geographic preference, and that Yale vs Stanford is the same unless you want to go into academia. OTOH, the TLS common wisdom also seems to be that you'd have to be crazy to pick HLS over Yale, which seems contradictory.

I think if you like the large class size at HLS and all that entails (e.g. larger communities of URMs can be a very attractive factor) that is a reason to prefer H over Y and S.
H and S are connected to great business schools (and HKS can be a big attraction too). S obviously has great connections to the tech industry and is preferable if you are dead set on IP law.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
