Don't forget YP. You've casted a pretty wide net.2012Lsatscore wrote:It's not that shocking/appalling if you look through my number twins (3.69/3.76, 164). But, be prepared because it's going to happen.WaltWhite wrote:
I will personally be shocked and appalled if you get waitlisted. First, because you've gotten into schools with considerable $$$; second, because I'm really screwed then.
They offered me a CRS waiver (bastards) and my LSAT isn't nearly as shiny and pretty as yours.
Plus, philo students gotta represent.
That said, if you chose not to use your Wake scholarship, remember this camaraderie.
(I honestly wish I could distribute it to you guys. I so wanted to like WF but it just didn't fit. I'm gonna wait until after UGA's open house before I officially withdraw, but its not looking good.)

I tried to negotiate scholarship via email and was told to call and do it over phone. Any advice for the phone call?

That's what I thought at first - until I noticed the "school funded" category. It looks like they're counting 40 school funded positions as "FT/LT bar passage required." Brings their FT/LT/Bar Pass. Req'd from 149 of 204 to 109 of 204, or almost 75% to just over 50%. Pretty big difference.Aroldis105 wrote:W&M's new employment statistics, looks like they made some large gains..

Thats unfortunate, I'm pretty sure that in years past that they have resisted playing that game and as a result fell in the rankings. Here's a link to the thread I started in the Choosing a Law School forum. I'll let the TLS elite break it down for us.itown wrote:That's what I thought at first - until I noticed the "school funded" category. Can anyone speak about what the PSAA Fellowship is? Commitment, monetary award, stipulations, etc.

I'd like to hear more about this as well. What were the drawbacks that kept you from being "blown out of the water?"

With the other schools I am considering, there wasn't anything that really made W&M stand out. The community seemed nice, but really couldn't see myself in that culture. Just something intangible seemed off. Additionally, they really pushed being a national law school when their numbers really say they are regional.lovelydarkanddeep wrote:akasabian wrote:Visited yesterday...was expecting to be blown out of the water but wasn't quite. I like Williamsburg, but having it be in the distant suburbs of a smaller city like Richmond rather than a larger major market like DC (even though it is only 2 hrs outside) really didn't appeal to me. Basically it was one of my top choices, but it made me feel like now that I might wanna take a year off and retake for better options. Sorry that wasn't very specific, i'll take more specific questions if people have them...

Re: William & Mary c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I went to an isolated medium-sized liberal arts college, so I knew what to expect when I got to Williamsburg. If I hadn't gone to a similar UG, I probably would have found the atmosphere a little "off", too. Not everyone likes being in an isolated college town. After three years in NYC, I'm fine with the idea though.akasabian wrote:With the other schools I am considering, there wasn't anything that really made W&M stand out. They do push the "national" law school idea pretty hard, but I think that you might be holding them to a standard that they're not claiming to meet. Just like Penn, their top locations are their home state, DC, and NY. Granted, their employment stats aren't as strong, but they can still get you where you want to go, if you work for it (and you'd be working for it at Penn, too). Moreover, W&M has strong national name recognition as an UG college and as the nation's first law school. I think that's what they're trying to get at when they say they're "national".

I'm accepted to W&L and still waiting to hear from W&M so interested to hear about what people thought since I don't think I'll get to visit there soon.

Re: William & Mary c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
After my initial visit, I felt really good about the possibility of going to W&M. The professors were engaged with both the material and the students, and the staff were extremely supportive. The students I met were motivated to succeed, but also friendly among themselves and the admitted students. Overall, I felt like W&M had a lot to offer a proactive, motivated student. I'm also a huge fan of the area. I've had enough of the city for awhile. It'll be nice to have some space and some common courtesy for most of the next three years, assuming I end up there.JayJones78 wrote:Interesting take.drinion wrote:I went to an isolated medium-sized liberal arts college, so I knew what to expect when I got to Williamsburg. It took me about 2 weeks to hear back. Initially emailed them 2/5 and got the new offer 2/23.skri65 wrote:For those who have negotiated scholarships, how long did it take to hear back?
