Re: In at Harvard
Hey to everyone in this thread, which I'm really (really really) hoping to be able to join soon:
I got an interview offer off the waitlist, with Dean Soban, who evidently is back at the helm. I'd like to ask any of you who had JS1s and JS2s rather than KB1s and KB2s (guessing you're in the minority, as KB was running things for most of the cycle) how the interview went and whether you have any tips for it. I'd imagine her style is at least slightly different from KB's, and so I'd love any input from JS admits. Thanks!

I knew it! Sorry I don't have anything helpful to say because my interview was with KB, just excited to see you finally get some attention from HLS. Good luck!Mista Bojangles wrote:Hey to everyone in this thread, which I'm really (really really) hoping to be able to join soon:

Re: In at Harvard
I interviewed with KB as well, but I prepared by thinking of answers to 1) Why law school, 2) Why Harvard, and 3) questions regarding my PS/resume. I also prepared 2-3 questions for her--there aren't really any bad questions except maybe ones that could easily be answered from the website, so do a quick check before the interview. JS is really easy-going. I believe her last name is pronounced so-BAHN, but feel free to call her Jessica.

JS was very nice and completely non-intimidating. She asked me two very specific questions-one about some of my leadership experience, and one about something that I referenced in my personal statement. Though the questions were very specific, they were easy--basically "Tell me more about ______."
I then asked her a question about HLS about a topic in which I was (truly/honestly) interested, not something random that I just found on the website in order to make it look like I tried to find something to ask about. My question was basically, "Can you go into a little bit more detail about__________ at HLS."
The entire interview was probably 6-8 minutes tops.

Re: In at Harvard
This pretty much sums up my JS1 experience as well. She was friendly but to the point—my interview clocked in at lass than 6 minutes. Two questions she asked me were also about leadership experience and something specific to my PS. Let us know when you get that JS2!Bahzing! wrote:Mista Bojangles wrote:Hey to everyone in this thread, which I'm really (really really) hoping to be able to join soon:

(And don't let yourself freak out too much post-interview. My experience was short-lived relief at not totally messing up followed by a much longer period of stressing over having forgotten some minute details in some of the answers. Didn't change a thing.)

I've been waiting over 7 months to legitimately post in this thread. Feels good.

I still can't believe this is real life. I had my mother in (the very, very best kind of) tears yesterday. She couldn't stop saying "my son is going to Harvard Law School." Yep mom, it's not easy for me to believe either. I feel so so lucky; this is in every sense of the word a dream come true.
