I would not advise taking out considerable debt for this school.

Why do you advise not taking out considerable debt, other than the obvious reasons? What do you enjoy and dislike about the school? And how are the job prospects looking?

Has anyone received or successfully negotiated any additional aid after the second deposit deadline?

I didn't have to do anything. Pepperdine kept extending my deadline to deposit, and from what I've been told other schools can see if your FAFSA is still open at other schools. So I just kept ignoring pepperdine and USD offered me $7,500 for basically nothing. I didn't email them again (I had emailed them before the 1st and 2nd deposit inquiring about $$ and they said no), I put paid my 2nd deposit, and 2 weeks later they gave me money. Sweet deal imo.

I went with USD. I didn't like the whole conservative thingy at Pepperdine. USD gave me some money and my girlfriend of 4 years got a transfer to SD so it just seemed to make sense to choose USD. The employment stats are almost identical as well.
