Re: U of Miami 2015
Hey,
I got accepted into Miami and am really considering coming but Im from New York and would like to be able to have the option of coming back to work in New York after law school. Does anyone know if going to UM means being trapped in FLorida for the next 6-8 years?? Its ranked higher than St.John's and Rutgers and wuite frankly id love to spend 3 years in Miami. But I guess its also important for me to be abe to come back home and be close to my firneds and family here. Any advice?
Thanks

Re: U of Miami 2015
From what Ive seen, once you graduate from Miami youre generally in the market around south florida area. I dont know if thats because as you go north, you hit so many law schools, but unless you have some sort of connections within the new york area id probably say your chances are slim. Then again, I have no proof whatsoever to back that up.jma020 wrote:Hey,

There is a University of Miami Law alumni group in New York, google them and ask them.

Thanks I just contacted the head of the alumni network in New York. I'll see what he says. I was also accepted at Rutgers-Newark and St.John's, but I really prefer not to live in Flushing/Newark if I dont have to.

Thanks! Not to get annoying but, if anyone else is positive they will not be attending please withdraw! The U is my #1 choice and I want to get off this waitlistLadyDiabolyn wrote:Here's hoping someone on here gets my spot. Withdrew.

I put my deposit down, but if I had to guess, my spot will become available in the next month or so, as I myself, am desperately trying to get off a wait list.

Re: U of Miami 2015
Surprised to see St.John's ahead of Rutgers Newark considering the large price difference and the small difference in the rankings.
Anyway I do realize that Miami is the best of the 3 but Im just trying to figure out if it gives me a decent shot of finding work in the NY/NJ area.
Thanks for your help.

Put down my deposit at about the same exact time I got accepted to UNC, might be withdrawing in the next month or so...

Re: U of Miami 2015
Just emailed about scholarships and was told there were no funds, wrote back and asked if even though students were withdrawing there would be no more scholarships given out and was told no more money will be given, to hope I qualify as a 2L or 3L...

Has anyone seen any movement from the waitlist since the seat deposit deadline just passed?

Do I have to personally withdraw or will I automatically be withdrawn by not paying the seat deposit?
