168 3.6. EA Application Held for RD. Was told via e-mail 2 weeks ago. Looks like I'm headed to Cornell.

not sure if this is a new phenomenon or not, as other poster suggests.

I went through some profiles from last year--holds yield a mix of results. A good number of admits and some matching-based scholarship moneyyupaws wrote:isn't this large sum of holds a new phenomenon?emkay625 wrote:i am curious too. how could i look it up? is that on lsn somewhere?horrorbusiness wrote:did any of the EA people that got "held" bother looking up what happened to the EA-held people of last year? i'm curious, and lazy.

the EA-held applicants started getting acceptances/rejections around jan 20th. not sure about those that would go on to get WL'd, as i didn't finish reading the thread.
a lot of them were dinged by status checker, and then a few days later by snail mail as well.

Wow! That's almost as bad as getting fired! There are some people who say Dean Sager is responsible for UT's recent rise in rankings. I guess the university at large didn't love his methods.

Re: Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
Hi there!
Does anyone know UT's timeframe on scholarships? I was accepted about 3 weeks ago, and was wondering if I haven't heard anything by now, does that usually mean 'no scholarship'? It seems like most people got theirs within 1-2 weeks.
My #s (167, 3.9x urm) are around what some people were getting some money at... not sure if I did something in the app to ding me from schol consideration...
Just curious; please reply if you have insights!
Thanks

Well, I haven't received any info, but I just got accepted about a week and a half ago. Did Dean Ingram mention the scholarship in her call?pineappl wrote:Hi there!

No, no mention of scholarship in the call, though it was also not Dean Ingram who called; I'm not quite sure of the name! Wait a minute, let's see, it was a Mr. Riley...eaper wrote:Well, I haven't received any info, but I just got accepted about a week and a half ago. I applied 9/30 and was admitted 10/31 without any mention of a scholarship. I received a scholarship packet in the next few days though. Re: Texas 2011-2012 Applicants
I think you are in a great position to receive scholarship money. We have almost the same numbers (your GPA is actually a bit higher than mine) and I received a full ride. While I think the generous offer has a bit to do with some of my soft factors, I still think you're in good shape.pineappl wrote:Hi there!

On the FB group for admitted students, Monica said, 'As our early decision process draws to a close I want to extend congratulations to you again. For those of you with finals, good luck. Please stay in touch...we like hearing from you. Some of you may have friends who applied under regular decision. We will begin reviewing those files soon. However, regular decision applicants will not hear from us until late January (remember we do not have rolling admissions). Never hesitate to call us directly if you have questions."
I am guessing they are slowing down a bit for the holiday...

This surprised me too. I read on ATL that some think the rankings jump came from some manipulation of employment stats.sarahmargie wrote:Oftranch wrote:I thought some of you might find this interesting:

That's a bummer to hear RD apps won't get decisions until January. There are some RD's on LSN that already got decisions, but maybe they're the exception.

URM, numbers lower than yours and received a scholarship letter about 1.5 weeks after acceptance with no mention in my phone call.
Last year (I'm a reapplicant), I hadn't received anything and sent an email to Dean Ingram asking about scholarship eligibility in general. She responded that I had received a scholarship and they re-sent the letter.
I'd shoot them a quick email just to inquire about scholarship eligibility in general and see what they say.

Bummer indeed. I was hoping to at least meet him before he left at the end of the academic year. I thought the general UT Law population loved him....guess not.Oftranch wrote:I thought some of you might find this interesting:

it looks like UT Law is getting a new dean.
He's staying on as a faculty member, just stepping down as dean.

For those of you who got scholarships... with in state tuition + and amount... is it specifically noted that you are receiving in state tuition, or is it assumed based on the name of the scholarship?
