Hi everyone- just submitted my app last night. Any clue when I can expect the status checker email? Or at least what was your experience?
I posted the same thing on the NYU thread so I apologize to those of you (probably a lot of you) who are reading both. Why I waited to submit these 2 apps I have no idea.

Yeah, status checker is useless. Just have to wait for our VCEs in January.plurilingue wrote:There is no status checker for Columbia, at least not in the sense of the other schools. There's just a confirmation of receipt of the transmitted application (above), and a confirmation of the application completion. The My Columbia section is, to my knowledge, not updated beyond that point.

Not sure. It seems to me to be a waitlist since they say they wont be reviewing them again till april. But i dont know. They were not very clear in the message.cogitoergosum wrote:"Unable to take favorable action at this time"... Is this a deferral or waitlist or...

Does everyone who was not granted ED admission get the letter about being reconsidered in April etc., or did some get flat-out rejections? Trying to gauge the strength of my application for other schools, as well as for Columbia in April I suppose..

I think someone mentioned earlier that they defer pretty much everyone but that they take almost nobody off of that list. Not to be harsh, I'm only trying to not build my own hopes up.

Also, they did say "We anticipate that, altogether, almost 8,000 candidates will apply". However, considering last year had 7.5k applicants, and the number test takers is down 18%... I'm not sure how likely this is

What kind of numbers do you guys have (that are getting deferred)? All ED right?

I know I said this earlier, but I could see them deferring a lot more people than usual because of the uncertainty created by the drop in apps. Look at me, I'm already getting my hopes up again.

It's likely because less people are applying to more schools =).KevinP wrote:Also, they did say "We anticipate that, altogether, almost 8,000 candidates will apply". However, considering last year had 7.5k applicants, and the number test takers is down 18%... I'm not sure how likely this is
