Re: In at NYU
Did everyone else just get an email from NYU about that summer prep program?
I thought it might be an RTK interview invite and then it wasn't. Seriously NYU? Way to make me almost start crying in my office.

I got that email too. Great fake out. I am just waiting for news on regular scholarships since I applied kind of late. Beginning to think that it killed my chances of getting anything at all.pocketwatcher wrote:Did everyone else just get an email from NYU about that summer prep program?

Ya, it took me a second to find out what they were even talking about. I'm still not entirely clear on what it is actually. Other than not the scholarship I applied for. >.<pocketwatcher wrote:Did everyone else just get an email from NYU about that summer prep program?

law previews like a summer course. from what i hear its worth it. the biggest advantage is that it kind of gives you the mindset of "oh shit this is real." before its too late. i was planning on doing it anyways. if LW wants to pay for it for me, by all means!

Hmm, I've heard mixed things about it, and mostly that it's not really worth the huge amount of money (as long as you read LSC/GTM/something along those lines). But if they'll pay for it, then I'm down too!mst wrote:law previews like a summer course. from what i hear its worth it. the biggest advantage is that it kind of gives you the mindset of "oh shit this is real." before its too late. i was planning on doing it anyways. if LW wants to pay for it for me, by all means!

No. It is def not worth the money at all, from what I hear. Especially for those people who have already found TLS.mst wrote:law previews like a summer course. from what i hear its worth it. the biggest advantage is that it kind of gives you the mindset of "oh shit this is real." before its too late. i was planning on doing it anyways. if LW wants to pay for it for me, by all means!

Exactly. It would be really nice to have the courtesy of a ding email at this point. And my offer from the financial aid office, so I know exactly how much debt I'm getting into.LinzerTorte wrote:Word, I was like, "scholly from NYU! I mean, it could only be $200,000 right? So it's not that much to worry about. If you're a millionaire.

Nope, but I am now a little terrified after reading the bios of the people on the RTK interview panel.cawquette wrote:did anyone get a message from dean ricky revesz today?

Re: In at NYU
This probably outs me as paying too much attention to the law school app process, but the date on my financial aid status checker changed for the final stage of review from a 1.5 weeks ago to today just now! And the icon with the lock symbol is missing. What does it mean?!?!?! #TLSoverspeculation #needtochillout

Re: In at NYU
I have come up with a theory:
Everybody currently in the final stage of review will get their aid offers on April 4.
I think this makes at least occasional sense.

Theres a link to it in the admitted students portion of the website under the financial aid page. Or you can just click here it'll take you to the same place: https://faaps.law.nyu.edu/studentmain.htmlneonx wrote:Can someone please enlighten me where to access this financial aid status checker?champsound wrote:This probably outs me as paying too much attention to the law school app process, but the date on my financial aid status checker changed for the final stage of review from a 1.5 weeks ago to today just now! Re: In at NYU
I submitted both FAFSA and Need Access in January. My financial aid checker reads: "Your application has been submitted and is currently being reviewed" still. Is this the same for all applicants interviewing for named scholarships? I'm interviewing for RTK Jacobson.
Also, in the event I do not get a named scholarship, does anyone have any idea what sort of merit aid to expect (if any)?

Someone in the scholarship thread yesterday said 50k - 75k. It's decent but not amazing considering NYU's hefty cost.neonx wrote:I submitted both FAFSA and Need Access in January. If you're in contention for a named, I think the process is slightly different.

Yeah, that was me. I was looking on LSN, and for people who reported recieving scholarship money, that range was common.law_monkey wrote:Someone in the scholarship thread yesterday said 50k - 75k. Re: In at NYU
Would you guys recommend sending in other offers from peer schools in the hope of swaying NYU for more aid? I'd rather put all of my cards on the table than deal with appealing.sarahh wrote:Yeah, that was me.
