This is something to really think about. The article says there will be a "meaningful negative impact" on the school's ranking, which I know some people don't care about, but this should definitely come into consideration for many of you when determining where to attend this fall.

US News sees a 'negative impact' as a result of the scandal?! Go figure! FWIW, the difference between 60-whatever and 80-whatever (or wherever VLS gets ranked next year) isn't going to amount to shit really.

If anything, i think this is affecting the students there now looking for jobs.
But we all know this isnt the place to talk about this :P

However, Morse predicts a "meaningfull negative impact" on Villanova's ranking in 2010 based on the law school's certified-to-be-correct LSAT and GPA numbers for 2010, compared to what was previously provided for 2009.
The predicted drop in rankings is due to the drop in the median LSAT and GPA, NOT the scandal itself.

Yes not the place, but I've experienced no ill-effect as a 1L searching. Actually, the firm I interviewed with expressed their desire to help us through this tough time (indicating they might be more prone to hire our students). Still waiting to hear if I get the SA job, however. Regardless, they were impressed with Dean Gotanda's handling of the situation and recognized our former dean was an asshat.

Anyone looking into attending ASD? I think I'm going to be flying up in a few weeks so I can knock out Temple's information session as well.

I will be at the April 9th ASD. We should get a group together to go out that night or the night before.

That would be fun, but I already signed up and booked a flight for the ASD on the 16th so I can knock out Temple's info session on the 15th. Best of luck!

As beach_terror said, you are correct that this is not the place to talk about it.

But you are incorrect about it affecting current students looking for jobs.

That email worried me as well.

Got in. Applied 2/21. Hoping I get an attractive scholarship offer, but Nova isn't typically overly giving in that area.

Has anyone had success negotiating scholarships? Or even know who the right person is to contact in regards to negotiating?

i did it and they threw another 5k/year at me pretty much no questions asked. they also asked if that seemed like enough to make a difference which led me to believe that they would be willing to add more on if needed. I was in contact with someone Bernal ( i think), but he has since been fired in the scandal... I would definitely try though. my experience with Nova is that they seem happy to throw money at applicants they want

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
