Why? I'm sure most people who are accepted so far won't end up matriculating at Cornell anyways.pppokerface wrote:this thread is so sad =(

I still don't know what UVA adcomms are thinking for OOS RD applicants. I see people with 174+/3.6+ get rejected lol.mrmangs wrote:Which is why I admire UVA's admission strategy.whymeohgodno wrote:Why? Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
because people with similar numbers were waitlisted or straight up dinged. I didn't see this as much in last year's threads and better numbers (but not so good that itd be YP) were deferred for RD.whymeohgodno wrote:Why? Who though? I haven't seen anyone with a 170+/3.7+ get straight out dinged or waitlisted. Worst was a deferral.pppokerface wrote:because people with similar numbers were waitlisted or straight up dinged. Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
thats what I was saying-a deferral for people with those numbers, if someone with a 170 got a deferral, I wouldn't be surprised if I got off a waitlist, which is really hard to get off of.whymeohgodno wrote:Who though? ASAP. LSAC+Professors are being slow with LORs and I'm being lazy with PS. Oh well, some things are out of my control at this point and I've stopped worrying about it.thats what I was saying-a deferral for people with those numbers, if someone with a 170 got a deferral, I wouldn't be surprised if I got off a waitlist, which is really hard to get off of.

Also to maybe assuage your fears a bit, Cornell is pretty unpredictable with splitters. They seem to like well rounded people and I wouldn't be surprised when you see people with LSAT in the low 170s get deferred when they have GPAs around 3.4-3.5.
And if I remember correctly you were above both 75th? You should be a lock unless you get r6'ed, but his numbers were a bit higher than yours so maybe you don't need to worry about YP?

i meant im afraid to call the admissions office to ask what the deal is. it isn't a tailor where u expect ur suit back by such and such a date, but if u have the balls to, by all means post what happens so people like me can know.HeavenWood wrote:I see what you did there.justadude55 wrote:i try to be as unannoying as possible.

Cornell is notorious with being extremely frustrating with apps. I don't think calling them would do anything.justadude55 wrote:i meant im afraid to call the admissions office to ask what the deal is. it isn't a tailor where u expect ur suit back by such and such a date, but if u have the balls to, by all means post what happens so people like me can know.HeavenWood wrote:I see what you did there.justadude55 wrote:i try to be as unannoying as possible.

So weird. I also applied to 19 schools and have been processing at Cornell since October. We even have a lot of the same schools.kk19131 wrote:Cornell happens to be one of the 19 schools I've applied to, yes...

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I'm a non-mex hispanic and my app has been complete and ready for review (per the email since 11/17). I'm a reverse splitter at an ivy league with GPA over 3.8 and lsat 163.HeavenWood wrote:I wasn't calling flame, but wow. Just wow. 3.4 / 170 / Mexican-American
They say URM splitter cycles can be unpredictable, so I'm not terribly concerned. I'm in at GULC already, so I already have a decent option at the bottom of the T14.
I actually emailed Geiger about my low lsat score. He said a high GPA is a better indication of one's abilities than a score on a single day. So, I hope that bodes well for me.
Here is the exerpt from the email I received in response to my question:
__________________________________________________________________
You’ve obviously done well at a strong school and have shown the ability to thrive in an academic environment. That’s important to us, and will usually outweigh the LSAT score because your college record is based on actual performance not a high-stakes test’s prediction about future performance.
