Does anyone know of the decent housing in the G'ville area? My mother and grandmother live with me and I've been searching for town-home like apartments, but the kind of styles we like that are dominant here in S. Florida don't seem to exist very much up there. Also, how are the hospitals, as my grandmother has some health issues that require us to be near to them.
Good luck to everyone else!
I don't know specifically about town-house like apartments, but this is the most comprehensive guide to gainesville apartments I know of and might be helpful:
http://www.gainesville-rent.com/.
As for hospitals, UF has a Shands hospital on campus and is down the street from North Florida Regional Medical Center, which I believe are both of high quality.

I have to live near a very strong hospital too. I'm hoping there is a solid cancer center near UF too so I don't have to drive down to Moffitt every few weeks. Obviously, pending I actually get accepted. I am so sad I am not at home right now!!! Darn vacation!

There is a cancer center on campus in the Shands complex, and both Shands and North Florida Regional Medical Center have great reputations.
As for housing, it all really depends on how you want to commute to class. If you want to walk, you have the choice between about three apartment complexes and a few residential areas across the street. Driving will allow you to get a cheaper and possibly nicer apartment/condo/townhome but I'm not sure how the commuter decal works. There is also a park and ride (PNR) decal but the PNR bus doesn't go up the hill to the law school so you'd be doing a bit of shuffling there.

Thanks. If I go to UF I'm going to just buy a house so hopefully the market is good. Did you get your letter today????

yep.. looks like you were right. I actually think I'm going to end up at UF but have to play out the rest of the cycle. In either case I'm so excited to visit Gainesville.

congrats to all. My index according to LSP is 5.61. Would have been nice to know my app was under review but I hope Dec lsat will rule out the possibility of wait list entirely...

Congrats to everyone!
But I'm a little confused...I received the acceptance package from them yesterday, but I actually haven't sent in my application fee or any of the supplemental information. Do they accept people before receiving all of that stuff? Or could it be some kind of mistake...?

I saw that this happened in last years thread. You probably have to do it before you matriculate, especially if you want in state tuition because basically its just residency stuff.

anyone know what the living situation is for law students at UF? Is there a certain area/complex that most of the law/grad school kids live? Do most people live alone or have roommates? I heard Gainesville is pretty inexpensive but I just want to be prepared as possible when I visit since it's a pretty long drive from south florida.

There is a LOT of houses around the law school, and most law students I know rent there. They usually live with roommates since 1/1's can run almost double of what other housing offers. The nicer 1/1's and "upscale" apartments are located a little further away from the law school, but transportation around Gainesville is abundant and easy.

My dad pulled up some housing options and found some really nice 3 bedroom/4 bedroom houses for my boyfriend and I. We are looking to spend like $1200 (still from our Tampa budget) and it looks like that would get us a REALLY nice place. Very cheap.

Anyone know anything about scholarship info for UF? If/when they let you know you'll be receiving some?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
