I know what last year's graph says and this year's. But is there any precedent for a 3.1 admit. Thinking about retaking LSAT. But I don't think a 180 would even give me a shot. Strong softs. Probably just solid for HLS. Would a retake give me a prayer?

Clarification: these were two people, splitter and reverse splitter, both with extremely good addenda explaining the issue. (This is from Asha's blog and other comments on TLS from posters more knowledgeable than I). That being said, yes, anything is possible. I think the 3.3 admit had unreal softs. I remember this story on another TLS thread--that individual wiped most of their posts on TLS to avoid being outed, but they had the type of soft that you see on Yale's Class Profile. No clue about the 156. On LSN, a number of years ago there was a 3.3 admit to HLS, in 2005 or 2004 I think. After that a 3.4/177 was posted.

Thanks for the thoughts and the optimism. Thinking I would definitely need a 176+ The nonprofit I founded is on the verge of something that might push my softs to a 'maybe this makes a difference' level. But right now I just have great stuff but fairly typical stuff mostly centered on TFA. Thanks again guys. Also a 4.0 MA which maybe helps ease the nerves about the 3.1

So I'm assuming we're safe for tonight, those of us still standing. I wonder what tomorrow has in store.

I just don't know how to tell my family and friends that even though I got into some great schools, I'm going to wait a year and try again. I feel like they won't understand.
P.S. Sorry to all those who got dinged!
you're pretty much correct howeverr i hear that chicago is as good as anywhere else if academia is your goal
also, Edward seems like someone I'd love to have as a homie haha, chilll as evidenced by the thread and suchh logic, as evidenced by the 177. Best luck next year bro you'll do very well

Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
I applied back in late October and haven't heard anything yet. At this point I'm planning on having to reapply in the next cycle and have started preparing to retake the LSAT this June. Is there any benefit in emailing the admissions office to let them know that I'll be taking the June LSAT, in the hope that they won't reject me before that point?

If it was my situation I probably wouldn't e-mail them. I feel like it would increase the chance of them wait listing you, because by the time June LSAT scores come out it's early July and the majority of the class is set. Especially since you're already ok with reapplying, why not see where the chips fall this cycle and in the worst-case scenario you have a good backup option to reapply next cycle.nobody17 wrote:I applied back in late October and haven't heard anything yet. i'm new here and apologies in advance, but why is the 177/3.6 rejection a major shock?
mylsn shows 40-50% rate of acceptance over the last few years with those stats. is the confusion because the ding came so early?
ps to the 177/3.6 poster, i wish you all the best for the rest of your cycle, your attitude is inspiring

Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
I think there's been such a strong reaction because a) 177 is a great score, b) 177 is an even better score this cycle which has seen such low application numbers, c) it's rather early for HLS to be throwing away numbers like that, d) 3.6 isn't even that low, and we've seen lower get in this cycle, and e) edward is a cool cat.anon45 wrote:i'm new here and apologies in advance, but why is the 177/3.6 rejection a major shock?

I hope JS2s today because I'm seeing a lot of friends I haven't seen in a while this weekend, and when they ask me where I'm going to school, I'd much rather say, "I'm going to Harvard!" than "I don't know yet!"

This is the single most unnerving part of the application process. I had to endure this through May.MrMileyCyrus wrote:I hope JS2s today because I'm seeing a lot of friends I haven't seen in a while this weekend, and when they ask me where I'm going to school, I'd much rather say, "I'm going to Harvard!" than "I don't know yet!"
