Re: Harvard 2010!
This is evil! I obviously don't want to hope for a WL, but for every second that I don't get a WL, the possiblity of a ding increase by a lot... I really want to hope for an acceptance but that's so so so unlikely

This is an excellent point, blue. (We had a discussion about this in one of the other employment threads).blue5385 wrote:and hopefully the market for law jobs will be much better when you get out of LS in 2015-ish than it will be for the c/o 2013...
What is it? Something to the tune of 40% of the HLS class of 2010 doesn't have any jobs lined up? And less than 10% are differed at big laws?!?!? Crazy, I say! This economic downtown has hit really hard. I think I was reading somewhere that HLS got rid of some "free 3L year tuition" to those seeking to enter public service work. Not to mention all the "perks" that HLS did away with (eg, free coffee, midnight pancakes, etc)
I really feel for many of you young cats coming right of undergrad, especially those entering the attorney track. I was reading in WSJ that about 950K big law (associate & partner) jobs were lost in NY/Boston alone. And many of these jobs aren't even coming back as corporations take work in-house or demand flat-rate retainers instead of the billable-by-the-hour model. Hard times!
Thank goodness I'm in a different career path.

This one's good, too: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/07/nyreg ... ml?_r=2&em

Re: Harvard 2010!
So you are saying, if I don't get what I want next year try for a third time?
There is no downside of me waiting other than me getting older. Maybe I should finish a PhD first?
I could conceivably take "HYS or bust" to a whole new level!

so far it seems most still standing have somewhat reasonable shots. ugh false hope springs eternal but I imagine I'll be without feathers soon enough.

Re: Harvard 2010!
it's odd that waitlists and rejections are not interspersed at all, as they seem to be in the past few previous years (i.e., by this point in the app process the remaining pool of candidates was either WL or reject, but they happened simultaneously)

I'm starting to think I should just withdraw my application and end the agony. I've been UR since 2/24 and have had no JR1.
Please tell me there is at least one other person in my boat??
