Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
That's my plan if I know I'm gonna be unemployed for a long stretch - utilize a good credit score to get a card with no APR for the first year or something introductory offer and just use that for the duration of it without digging into savings too much.HennessyVSOP wrote:Got approved for a $28k limit right before I went on vacation to Ireland last year...it was all I could do not to just stay there and max out the card and make a new life for myself.Dodocogon wrote:Got a new amex card today and they gave me a $10k limit - my current card is only $2k and my income definitely doesn't warrant that high of one.. I mean my credit is good but![]()
You all keep me responsible okay - this is just for me to get cash back on groceries lol
I could make $28k stretch long enough to find a job.

Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
Part of me wants to quit SOOOOO bad and just ride my credit limit and 0% APR to the fall. But another part of me knows I will probably need some of that credit in schoolDodocogon wrote:That's my plan if I know I'm gonna be unemployed for a long stretch - utilize a good credit score to get a card with no APR for the first year or something introductory offer and just use that for the duration of it without digging into savings too much.HennessyVSOP wrote:Got approved for a $28k limit right before I went on vacation to Ireland last year...it was all I could do not to just stay there and max out the card and make a new life for myself.Dodocogon wrote:Got a new amex card today and they gave me a $10k limit - my current card is only $2k and my income definitely doesn't warrant that high of one.. I got 9% APR on this one with a Federal Credit Union. My income is totally not high enough for a $28k limit lmaoDodocogon wrote:That's my plan if I know I'm gonna be unemployed for a long stretch - utilize a good credit score to get a card with no APR for the first year or something introductory offer and just use that for the duration of it without digging into savings too much.HennessyVSOP wrote:Got approved for a $28k limit right before I went on vacation to Ireland last year...it was all I could do not to just stay there and max out the card and make a new life for myself.Dodocogon wrote:Got a new amex card today and they gave me a $10k limit - my current card is only $2k and my income definitely doesn't warrant that high of one.. None, I've been surprising lucky with acceptances from 4-13. Radio silence from H and S indicates future WLs/rejections, however

Zero. I got waitlisted at GULC but withdrew pretty quickly. I also plan to withdraw from any other waitlists I end up on. I have a few good choices and want to give other people a (very very slightly) better shot if they're depending on a waitlist admission.HennessyVSOP wrote:How many waitlists is everyone riding?
I strongly encourage other folks with good options to do the same.

I'm going to withdraw from any school that I wouldn't consider going to over UVA or Cornell, but I'll remain on the other for a month or so to see if anything happens.
I don't really think taking your name off the waitlist helps other people.. If they decided they had a spot and took you off the waitlist but you declined, the spot would just go to someone else. You might be slowing things done a bit, but the numbers still look the same

Pretty sure that's not how it works. If there are less names on the waitlist, then when they go to pick people, you have a better chance of getting accepted.RParadela wrote: I don't really think taking your name off the waitlist helps other people.. I've withdrawn from one school so far, riding a single waitlist.

Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
I think it would rarely help. When schools go to the WL they are looking for specific needs, so its more of whether or not you fit the need, not whether there are 400 versus 500 people on the WL.jhc14 wrote:Pretty sure that's not how it works. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
Right, but if there is multiple people on the waitlist with very similar stats as you, and they're not planning on attending if accepted, then they could be keeping you from getting that offer. 400 versus 500, means there's a hundred less people you need to worry about fitting the school's needs better than you. Idk, just my theory, I could be wrong.dietcoke1 wrote: I think it would rarely help.
