Thanks, I rationally know that, but GW is one of the few schools I actually care about, so I am looking forward to having things cemented when I get the letter.jk11287 wrote:CyLaw you'll be fine!! It let me registered, but I get a access denied when I actually try to log into the site. (Access denied in the sense that the user account itself is denied, not just a wrong password.)samwhip7 wrote:All the way through.CyLaw wrote:Do you mean just through the registration page or all the way though.samwhip7 wrote:So, as of today, I can log into the admitted students site again. This happened to me too when I tried today, and I have been accepted so I wouldn't read too much into it!CyLaw wrote:It let me registered, but I get a access denied when I actually try to log into the site. Any chance a 3.3 163/ Urm - mexican american- squeaks in?
Got a good personal statement and ok softs. I am really hoping to nail a GW/BC/ or Fordham
Edit: I also heard GW is sorely lacking in the diversity department.

Definitely worth a shot. I would think you'd be at least waitlisted, if not in.chicoalto0649 wrote:Any chance a 3.3 163/ Urm - mexican american- squeaks in?

I wished it worked that way. I will of course let you guys know how it works out.
If I got the 90K + first year housing package, that would officially move GWU to the top of my list, unseating Iowa.

On another note, for those of us who received no $$ info in our packages, what do you guys think the chances are of seeing some down the road? What about possibly leveraging scholarships from peer-ish schools (W&L, W&M) for money at GW?

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
I received a small white envelope over the weekend with a letter that said I would know of a decision in the next 4-6 weeks (ED applicant).
As someone ultimately interested in pursuing public interest work in DC, would any of you suggest doing so at a non-DC school (perhaps in NYC or at a law school with a strong public interest focus)? If I don't get $$ from DC schools, I may have to consider these alternatives...

Any one have an idea about GW's public interest focus? I heard career services was focused almost exclusively on BigLaw/IP....

All I know is there's a new public interest dean. The girl who gave me the tour was very interested in public interest and said that career options and the office of career services got markedly better with the new dean's appointment.chicoalto0649 wrote:lslc13 wrote:I received a small white envelope over the weekend with a letter that said I would know of a decision in the next 4-6 weeks (ED applicant).

I don't know how interested you are in Human rights, but they have a very interesting program with that focus: http://www.law.gwu.edu/Academics/EL/cli ... rview.aspxchicoalto0649 wrote:lslc13 wrote:I received a small white envelope over the weekend with a letter that said I would know of a decision in the next 4-6 weeks (ED applicant).

Also, my friend who is a 2L at GW right now told me that "they are trying to reshape GW into the public interest law school," so it seems as though the school is at least hoping to head in that direction.

Good stuff! Probably have given the economy, increasing demand for these positions. Whether this translates into good prospects for those who pursue it most likely remains to be seen.umichgrad wrote:All I know is there's a new public interest dean. Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
Right, I know about GW's plans and programs for public interest, but I still don't think GW is a realistic option for me without a scholarship. My question was whether or not attending a school outside of DC (with scholarship) would still provide decent prospects for working in DC non-profits upon graduation (assuming I do well, of course). I'm just trying to get a sense of the competitiveness of these positions for graduates from outside the area.

It depends on what school/in what area you're thinking. Also, if you're positive you want to work in public interest or something like that you could try to get a federal job first and get your loans paid back, if you did go to GW.lslc13 wrote:Right, I know about GW's plans and programs for public interest, but I still don't think GW is a realistic option for me without a scholarship.
