More conservative in relative terms or in that conservatives outnumber non-conservatives?
I suppose it could be relatively, though one had an image that showed them more conservatively skewed on a standard distribution curve, so I'm not sure if that one would be considered relatively...

Im just saying that I think the student population at T14 schools is going to be more liberal than the general US population, so someone going to a T14 wanting to avoid a liberal atmosphere is going to be very disappointed.

Especially going to Berkeley though, yeah.
People who voted for Trumpets should probably stay in the closet unless they love negative attention.

This is something people can figure out about a few of the schools just by following their Twitter accounts. I've seen quite a few tweets about talks being held on campus regarding things like Trump's conflicts of interest, his plans for immigrants, etc. I think I've seen it mostly from NYU and Cali schools (as I'd expect, tbh). Lol.

Haha you keep catching my inability to commit to wording on the edit.
I can only imagine how much I'll mull over every single word in my legal writing.

I'm liberal, but pretty reasonable and pragmatic myself. Just don't try to tell me gay marriage is the end of western civilization, and we'll be fine.

I think you'll be fine as long as you don't decide to rant about parting from your gun collection and aren't against the LGBTQ community and/or abortions. I'm pretty liberal. Definitely the most liberal person in my family. I get in heated disagreements with my sibling over some things (most recently, whether or not Trump's language revolving around keeping Muslims out of the country encourages prejudice) but I've never gotten the urge to rip his head off or anything. I think you just have to pick your battles (or topics of conversation) carefully and decide what's worth going back and forth about.

The main thing I try to remember regarding political discussions is odds are most liberals will remain liberal and most conservatives (or in your case, moderates with some conservative views) will remain conservative. There's probably a few issues that people can be persuaded about, but I can't imagine what they are.

Yeah, we kind of got away from your conversation and were just talking.

I'm personally just trying to keep myself distracted while I continue waiting for decisions

Is the Berkeley Student/Staff body really that biased? I've spent a fair amount of time in SF and the bay area in general and never experienced an obnoxious/intolerant political atmosphere in my day to day happenings, but I've also never spent time on the campus.
I'm just going off of heresay, as I've never even been to California. I don't think it would be hostile or intolerant by any means, I just know that I probably wouldn't fit in. I'm wayyyyyyyyyy too pro gun rights for California lol

The libtards here are ABSOLUTELY hostile and intolerant of conservatives. As long as you're not super public about it, you're good, but it is a thing.

The dude who just got arrested for the most recent murder in berkeley was known for attacking the republican club (actually physically attacking-not super effectively though lol) whenever they would do public events.

One of the two Berkeley alums who were just awarded scotus clerkships was going to be a clerk for Scalia before he passed.

Similar to the gay marriage thing, church/state separation is my one thing I can't bend on. I might be a gun toting "redneck", but I usually put that part of myself aside in the voting booth for the greater good
Yeah, I've been getting increasingly annoyed by the lack of secularism among the Republicans. I appreciate you sacrificing your love of guns for the greater good

Well, my contrarian vote doesn't really matter much in my state/district as I don't think I voted for a single winner in November lol
Well, at least you tried

UCB actually has one of the largest young republican clubs in the country...

But I'd rather toilet train an otter than argue whether Berkeley is dark blue or not, so I regret saying anything.

they say that but only like 20-30 people max show up for meetings. also the people in the republican club are pretty cool and really open to measured dialogue and argumentation so go go go if you get in

source: went to a couple meetings
