Not sure - in my case I was expecting $90k and was hoping for $105k - got $75k... not bad but makes the climb a little steeper!ashrice13 wrote:I wonder if they offer us ED deferred people more money. FWIW didn't hear back from BU today. Accepted 1/3. Above both 75ths.

Got 75k offer. I know they usually under-offer but I'm a bit disappointed. It's going to take at least six figures to make me even consider hauling my ass out to Boston. Will try to negotiate.

That sucks. It definitely makes you think harder about it. Are you applying for need based too?Dodocogon wrote:Not sure - in my case I was expecting $90k and was hoping for $105k - got $75k... not bad but makes the climb a little steeper!ashrice13 wrote:I wonder if they offer us ED deferred people more money. Nah, being 21 my parent's income will still count against anything I might get... Luckily in my case they are going to help out (I covered my undergrad with scholarship/work) so I'm not being unnecessarily shut out.ashrice13 wrote:That sucks. That's good they're gonna help you! It used to frustrate me that I needed to include my mothers info when I was in UG because I lived on my own and paid all my own bills. If you have the help though, that can make all the difference.Dodocogon wrote:Nah, being 21 my parent's income will still count against anything I might get... Yeah that plus the fact that I'm confident I'll get my offer raised (105k from GWU might do me a lot of good, idk) means I'm in a pretty good place... Still just want to be in the place where I can say I'm going to BU though!ashrice13 wrote:That's good they're gonna help you! Work towards it! Crazier things have happened. I'm gonna try to work towards a 30k increase myself.Long shot hero wrote:I'm not that surprised but I only got 60k and was hoping for 75 and then bargaining to 90 but damn...BU is almost impossible now. D: ugh

I wouldn't lose all hope, pretty sure they don't do calls until near close of business. Unfortunately I don't remember whether I went decision made before or after the callWamBamThankYouMaam wrote:Status checker updated to decision made. Guessing it's a ding since I didn't get a call

I submitted 12-25, went complete 1-6, and was accepted last Wednesday! Sometimes a quick turnaround is a good signWamBamThankYouMaam wrote:Submitted 1/5 complete 1/6. Re: Boston University C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Fair to say that the first wave of scholarships went to ED rollovers and 75<LSAT applicants?
Looking at LSN, almost everyone who posted $ was above the 75th. Maybe BU is waiting to see where they stand with their applicant pool by late Feb?

From my looking at past threads, looks like this is the case. First wave is to the group you mentioned, with other offers rolling out thru Feb.mrtux45 wrote:Fair to say that the first wave of scholarships went to ED rollovers and 75<LSAT applicants?

Right, it'll be interesting to see their scholarship strategy moving forward. Based on this thread, what's been awarded on LSN in comparison to years past, it seems they're giving less across the board.Dodocogon wrote:From my looking at past threads, looks like this is the case. While it's too early to tell maybe they're trying to push their numbers up, waiting to see who negotiates, or are just stingy to ED people who demonstrated their interest already? I just can't imagine passing on other opportunities to take on big debt for BU..which definitely sucks

Yeah, I'm hopeful they'll be receptive to negotiations with some decently stingy offers so far... maybe the strategy is different this year, not sure.mrtux45 wrote:Right, it'll be interesting to see their scholarship strategy moving forward.
