Got my scholarship offer tonight as well, I was accepted early January. Mine doesn't say anything about a potential increase later, unfortunately.

Congrats to those getting scholly offers! It does look like based on LSN that they have moved into the early January applicants now for those of us waiting!

Sounds like it's just getting tougher, those numbers would seem like a wait list a month ago.

I agree. It gives me less hope being on the waitlist that I'll ever get accepted.PatriotP74 wrote:Navyhornguy wrote:Sorry to hear that! It's been a tough cycle for Texas.texasrangersjb wrote:Denied this morning via email. 165/3.43/resident, 12/1 complete

Thanks :/ What do ya'll think, should I retake in June? I would be ok with going to SMU, but UT is really appealing.Navyhornguy wrote:Sorry to hear that! It's been a tough cycle for Texas.texasrangersjb wrote:Denied this morning via email. 165/3.43/resident, 12/1 complete
I have 1 take left, I'm 26 and want to get law school started, but also think I left some points on the table.
Good luck to ya'll.

I wonder what the odds of transferring into UT from say SMU or Houston are?

1) Don't go to a school you don't intend to graduate from and don't go to law school with the intent to transfer.PatriotP74 wrote:I wonder what the odds of transferring into UT from say SMU or Houston are?
2) Transferring from SMU/UH to UT does not provide any significant benefit unless you have a personal need to be in Austin. And people often discount the cons to transferring away from your 1L cohort.
3) You can transfer to UT from SMU/UH from outside the top 10%. Just how far outside the top 10% I can't say. Data is of course very limited on this front. That doesn't really tell you what the odds are, but given that you enter law school not knowing how you will perform, and some people even within the top 10% may not be accepted for transfer, I'd probably put them at 1 in 10.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
It seems like they take a few SMU students each transfer cycle. I've been told it would take top 15%. Top 20% might be a stretch.PatriotP74 wrote:I wonder what the odds of transferring into UT from say SMU or Houston are?
Edit: I must have gotten my numbers from someone talking about URM's. Im Sure what Bvest said is more realistic.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm not sure that my numbers are that much more realistic. I just don't think that being within the range of accepted transfer apps (even if that extends to 20%) makes you an auto admit, thus the chances are necessarily less than the range.
As far as my range, I limited it to just outside top 10% because that's as broad as I have actual knowledge of.

Should be inside the asw info (maybe on the survey thing). If youre in state i dont think they offer reimbursement. If oos then it varies.larsy91 wrote:+1.cecrum wrote:Also, I just checked out the admitted students weekend page. Does anyone know if there is travel reimbursement? You have to apply for a "need-based" travel stipend. I think it's probably partially based on distance and partially on salary/savings (there are a few questions). Flights to Austin are really expensive, at least from where I am...lymenheimer wrote:Should be inside the asw info (maybe on the survey thing). Ugh, probably won't qualify but I'm not going to shell out $500+ to come visit. I am actually considering Texas too so it would've been great.James.K.Polk wrote:You have to apply for a "need-based" travel stipend. Just for the record...You should shell out $500 to visit Austin if you haven't ever done so. Definitely worth it.larsy91 wrote:Ugh, probably won't qualify but I'm not going to shell out $500+ to come visit. I dont know if any of you have joined the facebook group, but I posted this there as well and Dean Riley got back to me. There is a short application that you fill out (he emails the link to you) if you are out of state. The scholarship can go up to $300 and took maybe 5 minutes to fill out, so definitely worth it.

New poll, if there is something you'd like different let me know. This one is obviously a spin on the previous poll but I still think alot of us are waiting so it gives a good idea of the OOS vs In State stats as of now.
