Thanks for pointing this out! It's been fixed now. Definitely didn't mean to cause people panic, haha.calisally77 wrote: Okay thanks! I thought that was the case but then page 1 of this thread says that the last day to submit is Feb 28 so that unleashed a whole lot of panic haha

I completed around mid Jan.bluebook22 wrote:Has anyone who applied in Jan gotten in yet?
No. Never assume anything. It's not a ding until you get the rejection letter. It's only been 2 months since you went complete. Many more have waited far longer.getacluenancydrew wrote:If I went complete in early Jan and haven't heard anything should I assume its a ding?
Complete October 10th, and still waiting. hahagetacluenancydrew wrote:If I went complete in early Jan and haven't heard anything should I assume its a ding?

Last year they sent out a ton of rejections on Feb 12th. Seems like they're a little behind this yearlunixer wrote:So when is Yale going to start sending out rejection letters so that I can take my other acceptances and move on with my life? Do they only reject in April?

I think Yale vs. named scholarships depends more on an individual's situation. If the money doesn't present a significant barrier, then by all means choose Yale; I'd otherwise be hesitant to encourage someone to take on significant amounts of debt.purplepen55 wrote:how are people thinking about Y vs major scholarships (ruby, etc.)
conventional tls wisdom seems to be take the ruby unless it's yale. curious if people still think that?

I was between full ride at Michigan and UVA and a significant scholarship (forgot which but believe it covered 80%+) at Columbia. I agree with the above post that it of course comes down to an individual's situation. I would be wary of any responses that state "Choose X" without in-depth background into an applicant's wants/needs.how are people thinking about Y vs major scholarships (ruby, etc.)

FWIW, Chicago, Y, and S have put me into contact with students and recent alum who made this decision, and the one common characteristic is that no one regretted the decision they made. Which I think says a lot about basic human psychology in rationalizing decisions, but also, I suspect, that there really is no bad decision. Most folks say think through your own unique values, goals, realities, etc., then visit schools, pull the trigger, and don't bother looking back.purplepen55 wrote:how are people thinking about Y vs major scholarships (ruby, etc.)
