This isn't helpful to the group at all. We're just complaining about how negotiating scholly money has gone, not the school overall.skri65 wrote:I'm a BC Law 2L. Not going to rave about BC here. Scholarship is one thing, but "feeling loved" shouldn't be relevant to this process.GoBills wrote:Which really is a shame considering that I probably would've overpaid a little bit to go to a place like BC had they made me feel like they really wanted me to attend the school.
The ability of the office of admissions and financial aid to get your name right in an email is similarly irrelevant to your legal education or the ability of BC to lead you to a job.
For everyone else, just FYI, i was able to successfully negotiate by sending them my other offers. Make sure to negotiate those other offers up higher first before sending them to BC.
If anyone has other questions and wants an honest response, PM me. I am not super into school spirit and I don't care for advertising BC. I'll try to give you the real deal.
Good luck.

it sounds like very few have been successful negotiating with BC which makes me a little hesitant to double deposit there. On the other hand it seems like they've low balled so many people that they should have more money to distribute after the april 15 deadline. I have ties to Boston and really liked BC Law (with the exception of admissions) but I want to make the double deposit worth my while. Do people think BC will be able more willing to negotiate after April 15?

At the ASD financial aid session, they said they probably wouldn't be able to revise any offers until after the first depo deadline. But they also said that they try to make their first offer their best offer. Also it looks like a lot of people reported mid range offers on LSN so maybe they took the communist route this year and tried to give everyone relatively equal money despite their numbers. If that is the case, I am not sure they will be willing to give anyone big money.

Yeah I guess I'm just hoping a lot of these mid range offers get turned down for more money at peer schools, which would free up more money for people who have deposited. Wishful thinking.betty_bojangles wrote:birdlaw624 wrote:it sounds like very few have been successful negotiating with BC which makes me a little hesitant to double deposit there. For what it's worth, I was unimpressed by BC admissions from the get-go. Their application is amateur, and those who answer their phones try to be helpful, but are unqualified to answer questions and don't ask those with authority.
That being said, I don't think an admissions department is necessarily indicative of the overall quality of a law school.

Going for a campus visit/tour on April 13th as a wait listed student. Anyone have suggestions on how to maximize my inroads into the admissions department? They said I could not meet with anyone from the adcomm...
Has anyone else been denied a meeting with anyone from the admissions committee during their campus visit? I've heard that schools usually permit you to meet with someone if you are wait listed so that you may address any flaws in your application and advocate for yourself/demonstrate interest in the school...

Recently accepted into BC Law and have always wanted to attend. After reading through the forums, I have found a lot of negative info unless a law school is T14. I have always regarded it as a top law school but the past couple of months have led me to question this. Is it best to wait a year and shoot for T14 or if I have intentions of practicing in Boston/Northeast this is a desirable option?

I absolutely think this answer is based on your own personal goals and the options you are weighing, particularly financial.M13D10 wrote:Recently accepted into BC Law and have always wanted to attend. While I think BC is relatively well-known, I think it's ranking has dropped a bit over the years, though you should absolutely only take rankings as seriously as you take the metrics by which schools are graded. However, if you're looking for local reputation, I don't think BC is a bad choice. How much do you want to go to BC? Have you visited? Is the financial package good for you? How much of a chance do you think you have of getting into the T14 next time if you didn't this round? What will change? What are your options if you don't go to law school this fall (i.e. if you keep working, how viable is this, etc)?
In the end, you have to weigh going to to a school that's maybe not T14 and not even T25, but maybe you can kick ass there and do really well for yourself. Especially if you know that's the area you want to be in, it's not a bad option.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it! I visited the school and loved it but was just worried about some of the things I have read online. My friends that have went there have ended up with some great jobs and have said around the area that it is highly thought of but I guess it was just last minute second guessing on my part!

My guess is that a lot of law school will be self-fulfilling prophecies. People who go to a school being bitter and resentful that this was the best school they got into will probably have less fulfilling experiences, but if you really want to go, then you'll go and probably make the best of it. As long as you know the goods and the bads of the school, I think you can navigate the experience well and you won't feel as jaded or cheated. Good luck! Sounds like you really want to be there and if this is something you really want to do, go for it and don't look back!M13D10 wrote:Thanks for the response, I appreciate it! If your GPA gives you any chance at the T14, the answer is unequivocally "yes." You need to increase your LSAT score and reapply to better schools next cycle.JHP wrote:I absolutely think this answer is based on your own personal goals and the options you are weighing, particularly financial.M13D10 wrote:Recently accepted into BC Law and have always wanted to attend. Whatever you do, don't settle on BC or a similarly ranked school based on your perception of its local reputation. Look at the most up-to-date employment data, talk to someone who knows what it means, and decide whether you're OK with it.

Should be interesting to meet up with another prospective BC'er! Are you Admitted, wait listed or just touring to see the school?whizkid89 wrote:I too am going for a visit on April 13th! FYI Yesterday afternoon I sent an email to admissions about reconsidering my scholarship, and this morning I received a total increase of $12,000. I know that a lot of people have been posting their bad experiences on here, so I just wanted to contribute my positive one! Message me for more information. Good luck everyone else!

Was admitted into both BU and BC. BU offered me 15k a year, BC nothing. I emailed BC and let them know, and I think they misinterpreted my email because they offered me 15k overall......Unless they email me back before the deadline i'll probably be withdrawing

Putting in my seat deposit tonight! Just between you and I though, I hope I get off the waitlist at Fordham so I can open up my spot for someone who's dream it is to go to BC. One thing I won't be doing is double dipping with seat deposits though. Good luck to everyone else!

What was your opinion of the school itself during the campus visits?

I don't really know to be honest. 2 years ago BC was my dream school. I went to school in MA at a large university and BC was a big name to us. The campus is small and it kind of reminded me of a high school but the campus structure itself is beautiful. I like the people a lot though - I think I'm just bummed I didn't get money from themstorpappa wrote:What was your opinion of the school itself during the campus visits?
