Berkeley wouldn't even be mad about Yoosie! They're a UC too!

I was supposed to have a Skype interview about 15 minutes ago. How long should I wait before contacting them?

You sure you have the time difference right?lane wrote:I was supposed to have a Skype interview about 15 minutes ago. How long should I wait before contacting them?
Edit: If not, you're definitely fine calling admissions

Yes I'm positive. Just rechecked the email. It was set for 3 PM PST. I'll give admissions a call. Thanks!Big Red wrote:You sure you have the time difference right?lane wrote:I was supposed to have a Skype interview about 15 minutes ago. How long should I wait before contacting them?

been waiting since november : / I'm not totally giving up hope but realistically the odds are very slim. I'm prepared for a ding and have been making other plans.

UCLA just sent a preliminary financial aid award letter. If you have not (yet...) been awarded a scholarship I think it just shows paying the entire COA in loans.

I was awarded merit money in the first round, and my EPAL shows paying the rest of the COA in loans as well.

Been complete since 1/3 and have had radio silence ever since. I'm borderline for sure. Right at 25th percentile for LSAT and >75th percentile GPA.

To those who received unsolicited merit aid, did it arrive with your acceptance packet?

Got it via email before any hard copy arrived. Don't even remember if there was a physical version. Would have to check.Hikkomorist wrote:To those who received unsolicited merit aid, did it arrive with your acceptance packet?

Try negotiating. They offered me about 25% more after negotiatingmec896 wrote:Lucky! My offer was way lower than their competitors. Threw me off bc I have been seriously considering UCLA, until now.Shelbinole wrote:Just received my scholarship offer. Pretty generous but probably not enough

And they offered my nothing more than their initial offer when I tried negotiating. Although, looking at LSN it seems I overperformed with regards to my scholarship and my numbers as compared to people who got the same money.
Edit: Not trying to be contrarian. Just chipping in with an anecdote that they don't always increase their initial offer.

Out of curiousity, what is the 15-16 cost of attendance listed as?JFO1833 wrote:UCLA just sent a preliminary financial aid award letter. If you have not (yet...) been awarded a scholarship I think it just shows paying the entire COA in loans.

Very frustrated with UCLA. I was also told that they wouldn't offer me more until possibly after the first seat deposit deadline. I understand they want people to put a deposit down before negotiating, but they are really risking missing out on a lot of people with this strategy. UCLA is one of my top 2 choices, but they lowballed me with their offer. I'm struggling to justify depositing when given the current offer there is absolutely no way I could attend. I have similar offers from Michigan and Cornell, which makes both schools' COA less than UCLA. I also have offers from USC and Vanderbilt that are almost double what UCLA offered.

It'd be more reasonable if their seat deposit wasn't $500....lawschool1741 wrote:Literally in the exact same boat here...idk what I'm going to dojjacobs8319 wrote:Very frustrated with UCLA. Also curious about the breakdown for tuition/cost of living for next year. For some reason my EPAL is not available, even though I got an email saying it was....idontknow1 wrote:Out of curiousity, what is the 15-16 cost of attendance listed as?JFO1833 wrote:UCLA just sent a preliminary financial aid award letter. I just got a phone call from an unknown LA number, at which point I promptly had consecutive brain aneurysms, only to answer the phone and hear the dulcet tones of an automated Verizon message telling me about special offers... I promptly suffered more aneurysms (from rage).

Are they still admitting people?

Re: UCLA School of Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I looked at last years LSN data and various threads. If patterns holds, one or two people here and there will be admitted over next two weeks, then one last small burst of acceptances right before April 15 (most schools deposit deadline). All hope is not lost but there are virtually no spots left. The odds are not good. I'd give my first born child, right arm and Xbox to go to UCLA but I've come to terms with the fact it's highly unlikely they'll call : (
