Presumably because law school adcoms read this forum, and they don't want to be identified. Either that or misplaced modesty.thebrakes wrote:i wonder why the 'pm' for stats? i see that around and don't really understand the motivation. congrats in any case!JTerry'sNo.1 wrote:Hello everyone - first time poster here. i'd be really surprised if law school adcoms spend there time reading top-law-school forums trying first to identify people and second to get any information of value afterwards. frankly i think we're lucky if they do anything more than a skim of our personal statements.quadsbaby wrote:Presumably because law school adcoms read this forum, and they don't want to be identified. They definitely read TLS. And there are plenty of posters who have been identified by their schools.thebrakes wrote:i'd be really surprised if law school adcoms spend there time reading top-law-school forums trying first to identify people and second to get any information of value afterwards. frankly i think we're lucky if they do anything more than a skim of our personal statements.quadsbaby wrote:Presumably because law school adcoms read this forum, and they don't want to be identified. With what result, I wonder? Why does it really matter if you're identified by a school?Winston1984 wrote: They definitely read TLS. And there are plenty of posters who have been identified by their schools.

Probably doesn't unless you say really terrible things. Or talk about only use that school for leverage. Stuff like that.compass wrote:With what result, I wonder? ...and? Did something terrible happen to them? I guess I can see not wanting to show your hand if you are not in yet or want to negotiate schollys but other than that, unless your being a complete tool I don't see how it could matter much.

some people definitely do have to worry because they post like assholes and then adcoms identify them and call them out on it (*coughcough* not talking about anyone in particular), but for just your average applicant, you might want to stay anonymous so that you can freely discuss preferences among schools/likelihood of attending one place over another/stuff about scholarship negotiation/etc.

Not sure I get your question. If you want specific cases I'm sure the Spivey thread would be a better place.w0w wrote:...and? Did something terrible happen to them? Stanford hasn't even gotten into the November submits as far as I can tell so I think it will be a while before the first ding wave. The thinker wrote:Anyone else worried about a blood bath after applications close?

ok.... so what is the average time between submitted and under review?
I submitted all my apps on the same day and a few of them are under review, a few of them are still in process...
Should I worry more about those UR or should I worry more about those still in process?
My friend just got accepted in Duke. I am SOOOOOOO jealous....

"Submitted for review" at Stanford is really the same as "complete" elsewhere. After that, the SC doesn't change until you get a decision.keepsmiling1230 wrote:ok.... so what is the average time between submitted and under review?

I've had to deal with Verizon customer service a lot lately. I always forget that, some time after ending the call, you get an automated response from their customer service surveying number. Receiving a call from an unknown California number (even though it's Irvine, California) has caused me to become very excited and subsequently very disappointed within a short period of time on several occasions over the past few days...

My phone just marks the state from which the call originates. The other day I received a call from a California number, thinking it was perhaps Stanford. To my dismay, it was spam...tonysoprano wrote:I've had to deal with Verizon customer service a lot lately. The odd person has mentioned being identified at ASW, and the best example would be multiple people in the first JS2 wave this year reporting JS laughing about the poll result of "literally never" for first decisions.

DF has said that he specifically was identified, and I think Sublime was as well. I wouldn't be concerned if you aren't a megaposter, but it absolutely happens.

Stanford calls should come from a 650 area code, if that helps.
Of course, if you live in the bay area like I do, knowing that is not incredibly useful (since I know lots of people with 650 area code numbers).
