Idk it is kind of hard to figure out what they're doing right now but the accepted people on the spreadsheet don't seem to be that out of the ordinary LSAT-wise. Not a whole lot of high high numbers but several 170s and 172s. I think it's too soon to tell.tk17 wrote:Is it just me or does it seem like the early returns indicate that Columbia is focusing relatively more on GPA than LSAT this year?

Obviously, I'm happy for those admitted. Congratulations!w0w wrote:
That's how I feel about this whole cycle... I applied on sept for all schools except two and out of 11 schools I have heard from 4...
I did not really expect a leg up because of applying early, but I did expect to hear back early. I knew the anxiety would be crippling otherwise.

Anyone else submit a while ago and now hella concerned that Columbia hates you because a bunch of ppl who applied later than you have been accepted? Or is that just me.

Going off of the spreadsheet in the OP of this thread, it looks like the averages for the... 13 of us that reported there are 172/3.68. Although it does look like LSN has a different/higher-GPA set of data.tk17 wrote:That's what I was remembering, and it kinda looks like the early acceptances might support that for Columbia. I might just be hyper-sensitive to this, though, as a traditional splitter.Auxilio wrote:I remember there was some speculation that many schools, considering the drop in LSAT's would go after high GPAs to offset the potential ranking loss of a LSAT point.tk17 wrote:Is it just me or does it seem like the early returns indicate that Columbia is focusing relatively more on GPA than LSAT this year?
...so essentially my analytical skills are zilch.

I'm a reverse splitter (168/3.98) retaking in February and I decided not to apply to Columbia until I have my new score, since they usually love them some LSAT... Really regretting that decision now. Might go ahead and submit tonight without asking for the hold after seeing all these wonderful results. So conflicted

Some are suggesting they are waiting to give those people Hamilton/Butlers with the acceptance letter.jimmymac wrote:Doesnt it seem like the people that they are accepting so far a re non-shoe ins? I would be willing to forgive Columbia if they wanted to do that for me, but I do not see it happening.

I guess I could let it go if they give me Hamilton or Butler too.Auxilio wrote:w0w wrote:I wonder if people with schollys are going to have to wait for snail mail.

If they don't give a Hammy/Butler to some of the ppl who've been accepted ITT in the past two days I'd be very surprised. Seems like they'd be shooting themselves in the foot by admitting these people and then no offering them, which basically guarantees they'll take a fully elsewhere.

Anyone know if a 173 and mid-high 3.8x gpa are scholly numbers? Or should I still just be nervous about plain old admission (which I'm going to be anyway)?

Probably wishful thinking on my part that I would ever get a named scholly, but you're right, I'll most likely have to go somewhere else, as much as I <3 Columbia.lc39 wrote:If they don't give a Hammy/Butler to some of the ppl who've been accepted ITT in the past two days I'd be very surprised. Congrats, everyone! Looking forward to seeing more action ITT soon.

that shows a chance at some money, although nothing amazing. Does have almost guaranteed accepted though, especially since applicants are down.

IN!!!
Completely shocked! Received the email 5 hours ago, but just checked (I'm living overseas at the moment).
Went complete early November and radio silence since then - no interview request or follow-ups.
Non-URM
Non-ED
LSAT = 75
GPA<25
So excited!! Congratulations to everyone else who received the good news today!

I was kind of hoping for at least something with 175/3.87, so I don't like the theory that only the non-scholarship recipients have been admitted so far. But, my dislike doesn't make it untrue, of course. We'll see!

Admitted today!!!
Applied in November, medianish stats (pm for specifics), no interview.
(also, I really enjoy the straightforwardness of the email address they use.)

Does Columbia need for you to have submitted your Need Access form to award scholarships? Do you have to apply for any of the scholarships or are all of them based on your application?
