At ~10 p.m. New Haven time, YLS said they were done for the night. Anybody get a call? More calls tomorrow reportedly. This means the huge rejection wave will be among us.

Longtime lurker and 2nd time re-applicant here. Checking in for some good luck although I anticipate being swept up by the impending ding wave. Congrats to all the admitted applicants!

Are the references to the "ding wave" just normal TLS anxiety or is the actually a pattern to YLS admissions that suggests a rejection wave will be coming out soon? Sorry if this was answered early ITT!

Last cycle there was an admit wave March 20 and March 26-27 then a ding wave shortly after that. I think we may see more acceptances going into mid February submits in the next week before we see dings. That’s the pattern from last year at least. Check out mylsn.info if you also want to attempt to read the tea-leaves.

There are ding waves at Yale. I think it was reference to somewhere in this thread. It's basically because Yale defies conventional wisdom that you should send your app in early. I mean, I suppose it does hurt you to an extent, but not inasmuch as most of Yale's offers of admission are depleted by the time they get to you. They bide their time. I think someone said admission waves in March, followed by ding waves late March and April. I forgot how it word exactly.

Yes, Yale's pattern is different, but to a certain extent it can be discerned. Everything in their process is dictated by two things--the FR and their super high yield. The FR means that for 60% or so of admits, it is going to take a highly variable amount of time to be admitted because of the differing times in which faculty review applications (and 3 of those jokers have to do it). The yield means that they can hold seats open as late as they want knowing that they have a 4 in 5 chance that anyone they admit is going to matriculate--this is why applying late won't hurt you. If you're going to get in, it doesn't matter whether you apply 10/1 or 3/1.

You can see their process unfolding in the ding waves. The February ding wave cleared out people who applied before the new year and the coming wave will clear out people who applied after January. If you applied early and haven't heard anything, my guess is your app scored an 11 in FR and you're being held for a potential admit or WL. If you survive the coming ding wave, you are likely still in FR or you also have an 11.

I'm after January (January 1/8 complete), so I might be in the next wave of rejects. I'd be delighted (and ride out) a waitlist, though. Yale contacted me through the CRS, but they probably saw my average LSAT and thought, "Damn, everything but the LSAT."

So I'm just here to partake in everybody else's mirth. 8) Sending good vibes out to everyone here.

Damn. Only applied to YHS. That guy looks like a piece of work.

Also, adding to above, was complete 1/8 as well.

All along I thought my CRS GPA was a 3.72. It is actually a 3.76 lol. I calculated the other one myself, so I assumed it would be the same. Guess I messed up somehow. Well, the more you know. 3.76 doesn't really matter though, because it's not 3.8. -___-

Judging from the 2011-2013 graph in the first post of the thread, it looks like there might be April admission waves too.
