It was pretty straight forward, and very straight to the point. I did a phone interview.
-talk about my current job, which is at a law firm
-why UVA
-then she pointed out my GPA was well below median. Only tough question. Definitely be prepared to speak to any glaring weaknesses you may have.
-asked if I had any questions

Lasted about 10-15 minutes

Mine was pretty much the same. She asked me to tell her more about one of my college activities, describe a challenge I had faced at my job, why UVA, why law, and then how I would sell myself in a sentence to Ad Comms. She's very nice and you can tell she loves UVA.

Is it worth submitting an app? I wasn't going to because mylsn shows zero admits with my stats, and now its also quite late in the cycle to apply with lower stats.
Just got one too.

same... and sounds like our stats are similar. i've heard that this can be a way for schools to get more apps... esp because it's coming so late in the game, but i'm a n00b with this process so maybe some of savvy vets on TLS can weigh in.

I just got it too and my GPA is >75th and my LSAT is almost median. I also successfully solicited a waiver a few days ago, though, so I'm pretty sure this is just their post December LSAT wave.

Hi, sorry a noob question:

UVA gave me an unsolicited fee waiver. I applied ED., waitlisted a few days ago. (btw, it took them 17 calendar days to hear back...I thought that unless explicitly stated in the contract, a "day" means "calendar day" not business days? I might be wrong, please someone who knows correct me. I digress...) Anyhow, the WL email says that "[w]e are able to offer you a place on our waitlist, and will review your application again during May 2015."

Is it necessary that I communicate my acceptance to their offer to stay on the WL, or is it understood that I am accepting the offer unless I withdraw my application :?:

Thanks in advance.

As someone who applied late October, 3.94/173, and no Why UVA, is it fair to say that no movement yet = YP?

I am assuming it is not a good idea to try and send in a Why essay this late after applying but really regretting my choice, since I am leaning towards a lower school with less debt (especially as a Canadian where financing is more difficult). I have to wonder if me being a Canadian also makes YP even more likely. I would not be able to write an especially unique why UVA (especially since I cannot talk about the main reason I would want to attend, i.e., money). Do I just wait until I get waitlisted and then try and write a strong LOCI?

they were pretty aggressive very early on with scholarships so they may be waiting so see who turns those down or not

Today on LSN, someone posted a $105k offer for 174/3.98. I really don't understand this. His numbers are good enough for YP, but not only does UVA accept him they give an offer that will almost ensure it won't be taken. Is it possible that UVA was so aggressive early cycle that they've simply run out of high-dollar offers until current ones are rejected?

From the wording you posted here, it sounds like they will assume you want to be on the waitlist unless you withdraw. Unless it specifically told you to take action elsewhere in the email, I think you're probably fine.

Any suggestions at this point?

Something pretty similar happened to me. I think they're waiting for people to reject Dillards before they give out more money.

Just got the waitlist email. Virginia was my reach school, so at least it's better than an outright ding.

Me too. I'm going to send in a LOCI using the stuff I would have written in my why essay.

If so, I'm personally very disappointed (Dillard numbers, high UVA interest, submitted in December). No one on LSN has gotten a Dillard that applied after 10/28 - it's an interesting strategy to limit your most competitive scholarship to (essentially) June LSAT takers and the-most-on-their-shit September takers. So objectively, I'm curious to see the result on their medians and 75th for the class. Feel like it could boom or bust depending on if and when current crop of Dillards reject.

Do you know how many people would be taken off the waitlist every year?

I agree. Seems like it would be a very odd strategy.

Thanks guys. I'm not really heartbroken over it. If I got accepted everywhere I applied, I would've felt like I didn't shoot high enough.

Waitlisted :(
LSAT: >75th
GPA: 25th ~ Median

Looks like there's another new wave of UVA waitlists and rejects on LSN right now

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
