Anyone know what the seat deposit is and when it's due? Some googling gave me no results.

Last year it was April 15th, and it was $200.
The date is confirmed here, but I haven't found the amount posted anywhere.

I think You can find the amount by clicking 'What I Owe' in the status checker.cannibal ox wrote:Last year it was April 15th, and it was $200.

How long does it typically take for UT to send out scholarship packages? Thanks in advance for the help.

Previous years' threads say if you don't hear about $$ within a month, you won't. This year seems like they are sticking to that, and maybe even closer to three weeks after decision.Phattypattyfrost wrote:How long does it typically take for UT to send out scholarship packages? Anyone know more about ASW I though info would be up by now. I want to go but Texas is so far away I need time to plan and a stipend would be great but I'm not holding my breath

ASW last year was in late March. IDK what the stipend was, however.

ATTAX, feel free to PM me if you think it's more appropriate, but I think others could have similar questions: I read a lot on your experience requesting and receiving a scholarship at UT last year. I haven't even been accepted yet, but was wondering: what sort of schools does UT consider when "matching" scholarships? I have a couple of near full scholarships at schools ranked within 10 spots of UT, and although I'd like to stay in Austin, I don't plan on turning down a full ride for the opportunity at UT, if it's made available to me. What schools' offers did you use, and which would you recommend? Any idea on whether a full ride at GW or WUSTL, or at a regional school like U of H or SMU, would be preferred? Thanks for any insight!Attax wrote:ASW last year was in late March. IDK what the stipend was, however.

And to add on to that, if you DON'T get out any scholarships, do they let you know that, or is the lack of any notification your only sign? In the voicemail I got granting admission (on 12/15) it said "because of the winter holiday we won't be able to review your application for scholarships until early January." Haven't heard anything since then, and wondering if that means I shouldn't be expecting anything.Phattypattyfrost wrote:How long does it typically take for UT to send out scholarship packages? From my understanding, you wouldn't get an email saying 'we aren't offering you any $$', rather it is the lack of the opposite that indicates this. IMO, you are right on the bubble as far as dates/timing (for me, decision mid Dec -> $$ last week)arose928 wrote:And to add on to that, if you DON'T get out any scholarships, do they let you know that, or is the lack of any notification your only sign? ETA: what are your stats? does mylsn say you should expect $$? AND even if you don't get an initial offer there is definitely still room for negotiation as they figure out who will actually be attending (see last year's linked thread in previous comment).

I'm not really sure what they acknowledge. I had 90K at Duke/Cornell and UT gave me 15K initially (along with instate). They then bumped me up to 18K when I showed them that. I was kind of surprised honestly and thought they would give me more. But clearly it was enough because I am currently a student.rkspurs21 wrote:ATTAX, feel free to PM me if you think it's more appropriate, but I think others could have similar questions: I read a lot on your experience requesting and receiving a scholarship at UT last year. In your case I would probably show them the T20 full rides and then full ride at the TX school that places in the market you desire. So, if you want to be in Houston that would be UH, etc. You would say something like "UT is my top choice, however money is an important consideration for me. I would like to live and work in Houston long term and I feel UT is the best school for my career goals, but I have to keep cost in mind. I have a full tuition scholarship to UH, WUSTL, and GWU that I am also strongly considering..." Something like that. Basically, gush about UT, paint a realistic picture of why it is your top choice and why you want to be there but you'll take another realistic choice over it if they don't pony up, be super respectful but also make it seem like you're willing to walk away (even if in reality you'll attend at sticker).

Yeah looking at mylsn people in my range (167/3.6) got some significant offers.lawschool1741 wrote:From my understanding, you wouldn't get an email saying 'we aren't offering you any $$', rather it is the lack of the opposite that indicates this. Also, I applied on 12/9 and was accepted on 12/15 so I was possibly overinterpreting that as a sign that they wanna throw hella money at me

Are you in-state? That will play a role.arose928 wrote: Yeah looking at mylsn people in my range (167/3.6) got some significant offers.

That's incredibly helpful, BigZuck, thank you very much. I'm trying to decide if it's worth sending out an application to U of H or SMU, but I plan on working in DC for a few years and then eventually returning to Texas so hopefully the GW offer would help. I appreciate such a thoughtful reply.

Were scholarship notifications in the mail or via email?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
