Recently it has seemed like a Friday update followed by a Monday update is an admission. There can just be a bunch of other updates (I think I had 6 or 7 total) that don't mean anything. I bet it gets less clear cut as the cycle goes on.
I hope this is true - I had a status change yesterday (sometime in the afternoon, if anyone cares) and it'd be a good way to start Thanksgiving. ;)

Thank you in advance for responses and congratulations to those who have been admitted!

Mine still says complete and no change to the status checker. I'm wondering when I will be getting packets and stuff though.

Last year, we never received any actual packets of information in the mail. All the necessary information is provided on the Admitted Students website once that launches. You'll periodically receive small things in the mail, such as booklets about the school and faculty, but no actual packets of stuff.

some posters said three updates is like an admission, well unless they just forgot to update mine after the alumni interview or this long silence looks like a huge blowoff to me. :( :( ..status shows complete and last update date is still 5/11

anybody has information about ED deferral? like hold your ED application until December lsat result released. i guess i should just call the adcom and ask for my decision..they wont email a waitlist or ding confirmation right?

They'll get your decision to you. I wouldn't call. That'll just annoy them and slow them down.

By the way, if you're applying to US law schools you might want to start adjusting to the US way of writing dates...

I wouldn't worry about it. They do say that the date changes mean nothing ;). but also ive heard other people say that they've heard "you should hear back in about 2 weeks" from the group interviews.

Well, next week is thanksgiving. Most people won't be working at least Thursday-Sunday as it is, and i wouldn't be surprised if adcomms took wednesday off as well--they've been working hard! i wouldn't expect anything before the 2nd if i were you. hope that helps :]

Not sure if this will add anything to the thread, but had my alumni interview the other day. Wore a suit and tie to alumni's office. Interview was fairly casual. He asked me a few of the standard questions- Why Georgetown? Why law? what will you do next year if you don't get into a law school you want? Why your UG major and school?

Then he gave me the chance to ask a few questions and we talked about Georgetown and the state of law education overall really. Pretty informative and relax. As long as you can answer those first few questions, you've got nothing to worry about!

Chiming in on British date notation--does it really matter on a discussion board? It will probably be necessary to switch once this student starts school in the States (while 24/11 vs. 11/24 is pretty clear, 5/11 vs. 11/5 would be confusing), but for now, I think we all know what s/he means.
Probably no need to be hateful about it, definitely. ;)

That said, this may be a good place to practice using an american notation - having studied in both countries, I tended to get so stinkin' confused about what was even right anymore, and (ideally) this is a safe place to get used to switching without having profs on your case. But, gigibeirne, you should do whatever makes you happy.

I don't think it matters at all, and I also don't think the responders were genuinely confused by the date notation. But neither of the responses was about comprehension… midwest17 was basically saying what you're saying — that one might need to adjust date notation habits upon matriculating at a U.S. law school — and scoobers was doing it for the lulz (which she received, at least from me ;)).

Yeah. It's not an issue of comprehension really (I'm assuming that they haven't actually been complete since May, since that's, you know, not possible) but it does take a moment of thinking about it to figure out what's going on. Since they're applying to law schools here and presumably want to work here, it's probably best to start adjusting.

nep gets me ;)

while 11/5 vs 5/11 is confusing, what would be more confusing is like 11/12 vs 12/11, etc. considering so much of what we are doing in here is based on dates it's just something to keep in mind.

Has anyone else applied to PILS? Am I right in thinking you have to send in the application by mail; there's no way to do it online?

Nope, just went complete 11/8, the date for "complete" changed to 11/11, and letter came in the mail a week later. Doesn't seem like there's an "under review" status for the checker.

Hi everyone,

I just have a quick and silly question. I am working on finalizing my Georgetown app and am applying for PILS. I was looking at the actual application sheet you have to sign and the wording at the bottom seemed a little odd to me. It says, "If I am selected, I will take the required courses and participate in all of the other activities of the program." If you were awarded the PILS does that make your application binding? I freak out about small dumb things like this, haha, so I was just wondering. Thanks!

I'm also applying. I interpreted this as saying that if you enter the program, you'll fulfill the requirements. At the very most, I suppose it might mean that if you decide to attend Georgetown and are offered PILS, you have to accept PILS. But I can't imagine they would do that: if you don't want it, I'm sure they have other people they'll offer it to.

In short: no, PILS is not an ED program.

Thank you for your answer! That's fast turn around as well! Did you have an interview or any other contact before getting your letter?
Just the letter, Georgetown was the one school I applied to that I didn't get a fee waiver from, also didn't have an interview request. Might have been because my permanent address is somewhere that I can't imaging there being an alum contact for, worked out alright in the end though. Should have mentioned that first complete was 10/24, first movement after that was 11/8.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
