I probably need to know the same. Who wants to be the guineau pig and ask? Also how do you spell guinea? Is that right?njdevils2626 wrote:Wondering the same. I'm in at Wake and will be heading to W-S for ASW on the 21st. I'm from Florida and am trying to decide between UF/FSU and Wake. I am interested in criminal law and would like to work as a prosecutor. Looking forward to meeting some of you next week.

Same here. WF is definitely one of my top choices, but the April 1st deadline is tight when I'm still waiting to hear from two schools. Not sure if this is the right place to be asking this question either, but does anyone know what the stance on multiple deposits is? Could I make a deposit at Wake while still waiting to hear from two schools/deciding on schools with a later deadline?cricketlove00 wrote:I probably need to know the same. I don't see why not, but you'd lose your deposit if you decided on somewhere else.tryagainkaz wrote:Same here. I know the deposit is nonrefundable, but it's a move I'm financially able to make if necessary. I guess the question I have is more related to what I've heard regarding other schools being informed of your final decision; I don't want to eliminate the schools with later deadlines by putting down a seat deposit on 4/1, but I don't want to jeopardize my offer with WF either.cricketlove00 wrote:I don't see why not, but you'd lose your deposit if you decided on somewhere else.tryagainkaz wrote:Same here. RE: Multiple deposits
If I remember correctly its fine for the first deposit, as most people will have more than one. I think for the second deposit they don't want you to have any deposits outside of the one with them. I could be wrong here and it could be different if you have a unique situation but that is just off the top of my head.

I also went through this with Wake and Emory last year. I lived in Atlanta at the time and I will say you will spend A LOT MORE as far as COL at Emory. If the tuition prices are similar I would add to what Emory projected COL and take away what Wake projects. After living in Winston for almost a year, I can't imagine anywhere being as affordable.itachiuchiha wrote:they boosted me 12k over 3 years. I was grateful for that... but at this point Wake is competing with Emorycricketlove00 wrote:Jealous. I got a "nope." lolitachiuchiha wrote:They gave me an offer boost with reconsideration. All they wanted was an offer from a peer school to match. They basically yelled at me for attaching offers from Tier 2s. I was under the impression that they wanted all my offers. Oops. They were still nice enough to give me a boost. But the deal wasn't sweetened enough for me to have a better position to attend.

If you guys could go to Wake for 25k in tuition (not including COL) or UIUC for $0 in tuition (not including COL) which would you choose? I'm having a hard time making up my mind. I already visited Wake.

It looks like they basically expect a lot of people to do this. In an email Wake Forest said: : In order to reserve your scholarship award and a seat in the Class of 2017, a non-refundable deposit of $500 must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2014. If you decide by May 29 that you won’t be attending Wake Forest, please let us know and we’ll refund $100 of your initial deposit. A second tuition deposit of $500 must be postmarked no later than June 10, 2014. All deposits apply toward tuition if you enroll at Wake Forest Law this Fall.tryagainkaz wrote:cricketlove00 wrote:njdevils2626 wrote:Annie787 wrote: Could I make a deposit at Wake while still waiting to hear from two schools/deciding on schools with a later deadline?

Still no decision. Under review early January, interview request/complete late January, stuck at under review since 2/7. Starting to cut it close to the wire. I think they're just sitting on my file at this point.

Thanks Zazu!!!!!! Knowing that puts me at ease. I will put down the $500 by Apr. 1st and worry about losing the deposit should another school make a better offer. = )

25k total. That's just tuition, fees, and books. That's Not COL.shaynislegend wrote:25K a year or 25k total?Yanky91 wrote:If you guys could go to Wake for 25k in tuition (not including COL) or UIUC for $0 in tuition (not including COL) which would you choose? Wow those are good prices for both of those schools. I think the difference is a little closer if you factor in COL but Illinois will be cheaper. I think it just depends on where you want to work and live. Wake is probably better for VA, NC and along the Atlantic and Illinois for the Midwest.Yanky91 wrote:25k total. Hey everyone! I'll also be attending ASD next weekend, arriving Thursday evening. How are y'all planning on getting from the GSO airport to Winston-Salem? I've been looking online and it seems like every shuttle company charges around $50 one-way, which seems a little steep. Anyone else getting in on Thursday interested in possibly sharing transportation? Have you guys found cheaper transit? Thanks in advance!

I rented a car for $27 a day. I really wanted my own transportation so I could check out downtown and do my own thing for a little while. What time are you arriving on Thursday?mkehanna wrote:Hey everyone! I'll also be attending ASD next weekend, arriving Thursday evening. I also ultimately decided to go the rental car route. Thankfully, I was able to find a way to rent a car without the "under 25 driver" fee! I get in around 5pm on Thursday, so I'm anxious to check out downtown Winston-Salem a bit that night!cricketlove00 wrote:I rented a car for $27 a day. I am trying to get down there for Friday (I live in NYC). If I can get everything arranged in time (aka get off of work
), I will be coming into RDU. Apparently, there are no direct flights from NYC to GSO or even Charlotte. I would have to fly to either DC, Philly, Chicago(!), or Atlanta first to get into GSO or Charlotte. I am renting a car at RDU to get me to WS. I am super excited!

can any locals recommend the best BBQ in Winston-Salem? I'm coming down for ASD from MA so I definitely want to get my southern cue fix while I can! Bib's looks the best from what I've read online
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
