Does anyone know if we can get an extension past April 1st to tell them you're attending? I know a couple other schools said that you can have until May 1st if you tell them you're not sure w/o losing $$, just wondering if anyone knows if that's the case here.

I'm in at Wake and will be heading to W-S for ASW on the 21st. I'm from Florida and am trying to decide between UF/FSU and Wake. I am interested in criminal law and would like to work as a prosecutor. Looking forward to meeting some of you next week.

Could I make a deposit at Wake while still waiting to hear from two schools/deciding on schools with a later deadline?

I don't see why not, but you'd lose your deposit if you decided on somewhere else.

I don't see why not, but you'd lose your deposit if you decided on somewhere else.

I know the deposit is nonrefundable, but it's a move I'm financially able to make if necessary. I guess the question I have is more related to what I've heard regarding other schools being informed of your final decision; I don't want to eliminate the schools with later deadlines by putting down a seat deposit on 4/1, but I don't want to jeopardize my offer with WF either.

RE: Multiple deposits

If I remember correctly its fine for the first deposit, as most people will have more than one. I think for the second deposit they don't want you to have any deposits outside of the one with them. I could be wrong here and it could be different if you have a unique situation but that is just off the top of my head.

They gave me an offer boost with reconsideration. All they wanted was an offer from a peer school to match. They basically yelled at me for attaching offers from Tier 2s. I was under the impression that they wanted all my offers. Oops. They were still nice enough to give me a boost. But the deal wasn't sweetened enough for me to have a better position to attend.

Jealous. I got a "nope." lol

they boosted me 12k over 3 years. I was grateful for that... but at this point Wake is competing with Emory

I also went through this with Wake and Emory last year. I lived in Atlanta at the time and I will say you will spend A LOT MORE as far as COL at Emory. If the tuition prices are similar I would add to what Emory projected COL and take away what Wake projects. After living in Winston for almost a year, I can't imagine anywhere being as affordable.

It looks like they basically expect a lot of people to do this. In an email Wake Forest said: : In order to reserve your scholarship award and a seat in the Class of 2017, a non-refundable deposit of $500 must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2014. If you decide by May 29 that you won’t be attending Wake Forest, please let us know and we’ll refund $100 of your initial deposit. A second tuition deposit of $500 must be postmarked no later than June 10, 2014. All deposits apply toward tuition if you enroll at Wake Forest Law this Fall.

Still no decision. Under review early January, interview request/complete late January, stuck at under review since 2/7. Starting to cut it close to the wire. I think they're just sitting on my file at this point.

25k total. That's just tuition, fees, and books. That's Not COL.

Wow those are good prices for both of those schools. I think the difference is a little closer if you factor in COL but Illinois will be cheaper. I think it just depends on where you want to work and live. Wake is probably better for VA, NC and along the Atlantic and Illinois for the Midwest.

I've been looking online and it seems like every shuttle company charges around $50 one-way, which seems a little steep. Anyone else getting in on Thursday interested in possibly sharing transportation? Have you guys found cheaper transit? Thanks in advance!

I rented a car for $27 a day. I really wanted my own transportation so I could check out downtown and do my own thing for a little while. What time are you arriving on Thursday?

I also ultimately decided to go the rental car route. Thankfully, I was able to find a way to rent a car without the "under 25 driver" fee! I get in around 5pm on Thursday, so I'm anxious to check out downtown Winston-Salem a bit that night!

I am trying to get down there for Friday (I live in NYC). If I can get everything arranged in time (aka get off of work ), I will be coming into RDU. Apparently, there are no direct flights from NYC to GSO or even Charlotte. I would have to fly to either DC, Philly, Chicago(!), or Atlanta first to get into GSO or Charlotte. I am renting a car at RDU to get me to WS. I am super excited!
