Ricky bobby when were you admitted. I'm irrationally hoping it's the timing of the letters now. Retread mine tho. It does say they need extra time in order to give me the 'maximum and most competitive award'. But the context says to it situation. Not like the most ND can give

I was admitted back in November, I believe. Are you looking at the admissions email? Because my letter says that about the maximum and most competitive, but the email I got first says the bit about most attractive.

No. My email doesn't say anything about $. Looks like Man of the Hour didn't have that in his email either. He said it was in his packet. Hm.. All very interesting.

Nope. My email didn't mention anything about $. I was starting to worry until I got the packet. I'd be pretty damn happy with $25k/yr. Just crossing my fingers.

Dropping 3pt on LSAT was just unacceptable. Albeit that we do not need to get in an arms race with WUSTL (that is really the only peer school), not because we cannot afford it (ND cannot afford something? HA), but merely because as a school, that is not our culture (giving out money like candies). That being said, some changes in personnel might change how scholarship is being evaluated this year, that is why it is taking a while, and hopefully that means you guys will get better offers.

We don't really need to chase WUSTL in numbers. Placement is not going to change much either way.

Interested in this. Outside of California, where USC and UCLA throw a wrench into things, it seems that really the only schools that operate differently than a regional T1 are WUSTL, ND, and Vandy. I know Vandy is consistently (slightly) higher than WUSTL/ND in both ranking and placement, but it seems to me that they are all peer schools. They are the only non-t14s that have good national-ish placement. For all 3, it seems the national placement is due to their general and lay and prestige drawing people from all over the country and sending them back to their regions. That said, their local regions are also bigger than a typical T1 region.

I've viewed all three as peer schools during my admissions process. Any reason either one of you (irish or kyle) wouldn't include Vandy as a peer school? To me, it seems as though Vandy is sort of the ND/WUSTL of the South. And, does it matter? Because as irish said, placement probably won't change as a result of minor changes in USNWR for any of these three?

This question is more hypothetical than practical. But, it will matter slightly as all three are strong options for me.

I think Vandy is a half-step above ND/WUSTL. However, it would depend on the market you're trying to break into. I think for NYC and probably most east coast markets, Vandy might be better, but for the midwest that wouldn't be the case. If you're from, say, Minneapolis, I would guess that all three would be equally good for trying to get back there.

I always thought that Vanderbilt was strictly a southern school with high placement in cities like Atlanta; I'm pretty sure it's called "the Harvard of the South". As for Midwestern peers, would you throw Minnesota in with ND and WUSTL?

I would not place Minnesota in the same category. I would place it a half step below ND/WUSTL.

It's not over til it's over. Several have taken over a month before their acceptance. Realistically, yeah, ND has moved fast for a lot of accepted people, so your chances are a bit diminished if you're waiting a while, but there is no reason to count yourself out yet!

Above both 75ths and sitting complete since 1/9. Actually didn't realize how much the medians dropped for class of 2016. Show me the money ND and I will glaaaadly contribute to bringing them back up!

I would agree with this sentiment. UMN is a great school, but that is if you want to practice in MN or the states in surrounding MN.

If anything, it seems like people from Indiana have been overrepresented lately. One glance at the current masthead for law review is crazy, almost everyone is from the Midwest. That was not the case in my class.

I submitted my application on January 9 and I got my admitted email February 7 (last Friday)...the email didn't say anything about scholarship info, though...anyone else in the same boat? Also, I'm still waiting on my packet!!! How long did it take to get your acceptance packets after receiving the email?

Yeah. I've been trying to figure this out. There doesn't seem to be a pattern or a clear date cut off where things changed. I was admitted in December with no mention of scholarship in my email. The acceptance letter that came more than two weeks later (due to the holiday) mentioned scholarship. There have been different wordings and it is a bit unclear as to whether email mention v. letter mention & specific wording v. different wording mean anything.

So basically, we are all waiting. Your letter will hopefully have the word scholarship in it. From there it's a waiting game.

Got my acceptance package today! The Why ND book is pretty awesome. Also had mention of scholarship which would be coming out in early 2014....

..so yeah that didn't happen.

Yeah. It would seem like it should, but I can't make sense of it. The few "most attractive options" reported have had good numbers, but others with good or better numbers have received different wording.

I think it probably corresponds to the acceptance date. I was accepted on December 11th, am right at both medians, and had the "maximum and most competitive award" wording.

That's what I said, but Ricky Bobby got the "most competitive award" one in November. No one below either median has gotten the "competitive award" but I think AustinBound is >75, median GPA and got the same one I got "early 2014." (Full disclosure: I'm >75th LSAT but below 25th GPA, so I'm not surprised I didn't get the "competitive" one).
