ACCEPTED!!! 160/174/3.89 Non-URM, WE, wrote why Duke. Does anyone else find their admissions email a little noncommittal though? Basically "you're admitted and the ball is in your court now". Anyways, regardless of the wording I am ecstatic that I am legitimately going somewhere next Fall.

Edited to correct missing digit in GPA

Yes, priority track. I submitted on the 8th (or maybe the 7th...it was right near election day), went complete the day after submission, and received the email yesterday (18th). I was surprised to get it on a Sunday!

Haha so was I. The AOs must be buried in work to be in the office on weekends. I've wondered why they offer PT to begin with.

This may have already been discussed but I am at work and can't get through every page of the thread-- does anyone know how long/how many days after the under review date change people have been getting decisions?

I submitted on the 12th, went complete the 13th, initially under review the 14th and date just changed today 11/19 under review. Was hoping this means a decision could be coming within a few days. I submitted last Mon thinking I left just enough time for the 10 day window before Thanksgiving, but realized later they say it's from when file is complete, not submitted, and their email said it may be delayed because my 10 day window falls during Thanksgiving. Totally bummed about that and still hoping I can get it by Wednesday!

^I went complete a day before you (via PT) and my status reads 11/16. I also got the email saying they have to eat turkeys and such, so we might be waiting a while.

Mr. Elshal wrote:I'm just going to reiterate that I don't think PR=WL.

To (sort of) back this up, this is a quote from the Dean of Admissions at Duke Law, discussing PT:

"We guarantee that the applicants will receive a response from us within ten days after the application becomes complete. The response could be an offer of admission, a waitlist offer, an invitation to interview, a deny decision. Or, in some cases, we have to hold the file for further review."

It seems PR is just further review. If they were going to waitlist you, they would probably just call it waitlist. However, even if it is a waitlist (which I doubt), it probably has some benefits over the regular WL, or else they would combine the two for administrative ease.

Moral of the story: Don't worry about the PT/PR numbers unless you applied PT/PR. I doubt Duke's medians are gonna suddenly sky-rocket this year, and I don't believe they'll be so quick to cut down the class size. As a fellow 0L, I could obviously be wrong but this should give y'all a good reason to relax and not get too worked up about these numbers.
The fact that we even have to discuss/speculate on this is a little disappointing. I think all of us don't mind waiting for an awesome school like Duke, but a little more clarity on the situation would be great.

Does everyone get a "decision made" update before the email?

I didn't receive one. But being Sunday and all maybe it wasn't updated at the time.

Btw, in case anyone is wondering, the acceptance email isn't noncommittal at all - it just hadn't actually sunk in yet. I was eating dinner when I realized yes, I am undoubtedly going to law school. Anyways rest assured the email isn't noncommittal- just wanted to clarify.

I did. It was terrible. Decision made email about 5 hours before I got the decision - but I went to a movie and by the time I got back I was rewarded with a "Congratulations! You're admitted!" email. Acceptance packet in the mail about a week later.

By the way, hi to everyone. I'm new at TLS and just wanted to check in.

This is just a general question to the priority reserve people: are you guys doing in kind of follow up? Emailing expressing interest, writing a why duke or whatever.

Jeez, sorry. Wonder if it's worry/confusion about the cycle ahead that's causing these.

Probably a LOCI sometime soon, if I can make it convincing sounding enough

Went complete today. How do you think they will calculate Thanksgiving in regards to PT? Are they closed tomorrow as well as Thursday and Friday? The 10 days for PT refers to business days, right?

You do have a shot, but Duke isn't very splitter friendly.
