Question for everybody:
Has anyone, including those with admit calls, seen movement in their status checkers? I've been "Under Review" since 10/24. I'm wondering if there's a way to figure out who is under faculty review...
Edit: by everyone I mean those who sent apps in Sept. or early Oct.

Yep. My status checker stayed "Under Review" for about two weeks after Dean Tom called and then finally changed to "Current Status: A decision has been reached; Decision Status: Admitted!" on 12/4. Seems a bit slow.sean21 wrote:Question for everybody:

you'll be notified via email if you go under committee review. emails have been sent as early as december in past cycles.sean21 wrote:Question for everybody:

I like how after Cooley rigs their own stats they still can only get 2nd. It's like they're saying "well we can't make ourselves number 1, otherwise people might think this is a joke..."Regulus wrote:Generally speaking, that is how it is supposed to work... states like Cali and NY are kind of exclusive, but with other states you can pass the bar and then quite easily become eligible to practice in neighboring / nearby states.venus wrote:Don't most people get a job offer (from wherever they interned) even before graduation, so they take the bar where their job is?
More than bar passage rates, though, the thing that I am most worried about is how the economy is going to affect the law school rankings. According to the most recent data, Berkeley has actually left the T14 and fallen to #27.

Have September applicants been pushed all the way to committee review before? Are there certain numbers/softs that would make an applicant more likely to go under committee review?djwjddl wrote:you'll be notified via email if you go under committee review. emails have been sent as early as december in past cycles.sean21 wrote:Question for everybody:

berkeley really is "holistic" so it's really hard to say, but it isn't unheard of for even people with both gpa/lsat at 75th percentile to go UCR. all that Dean Tom has revealed thus far is that IF you go UCR, your chances of getting in drop to 1/8.sean21 wrote:Have September applicants been pushed all the way to committee review before? correct. you'll get a separate email. not too sure if your status changes/updates after that or not.Regulus wrote:Wow... that is pretty scarydjwjddl wrote:berkeley really is "holistic" so it's really hard to say, but it isn't unheard of for even people with both gpa/lsat in 75th percentile to go UCR. all that Dean Tom has revealed thus far is that IF you go UCR, your chances of getting in drop to 1/8.sean21 wrote:Have September applicants been pushed all the way to committee review before? As someone who submitted on day 1 and went "under review" in mid-October, I too am concerned that no response thus far means an imminent ding or UCR. Just to make sure, "Your file is under review" on the status checker is different than "Under committee review," right?

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Ok i hope i dont come across as a jerk right now but i really need some TLS guidance. Just received email for Deans scholarship and my mind is in shock, mixed with disbelief and elation. I never expected a UCB acceptance, let alone the possibility of money. Ill be paying my own way so any help would be a godsend. But apparently there's a 30 minute interview required and I'm hoping someone else may have experienced it before and could give me a heads up so I can be adequately prepared. Thanks in advance

You have a 174 and didn't expect an admit? That's modest!Spritzpiggy wrote:Ok i hope i dont come across as a jerk right now but i really need some TLS guidance. Dress nice for the interview (even if it's over the phone), speak up loud and clear, smile when you speak (it makes you seem like an amicable person), and don't slouch!

Congrats!

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
OK I've done a bit of research, and for those who submitted early and haven't heard back yet, there is hope...after sifting through last year's forum it seems like there is a strong correlation between those who have interesting softs/self-proclaimed strong PS and those who go under faculty review, even with applications submitted on day one. I've got some unique int'l + WE and HOPING I don't get dinged on the one-year anniversary of the 1.09 reject massacre.
GL to all. (and congrats on scholly that's hella* dope)

Oh god, Frisco is the worst. And the train you take to SF (or "the city") is BART, not "The BART".bettercallsaul91 wrote:

You got it perfect sean! Just add some chili or clam chowder inside a sourdough bread bowl to the Freedom Fries.sean21 wrote:Shall we take the BART to Frisco to get some Freedom Fries?haveahat wrote:Oh god, Frisco is the worst.
