Did anyone get a KB1 without sending an LOCI? Beginning to think I made a mistake in not sending one...

The fact that it's Harvard is why I didn't send one. A generic "yes, I still want to go to Harvard" letter didn't seem like it would hold much weight (and that sentiment was echoed by several people in this thread).ru1ess wrote:lol-- then send one and FedEx it over night.. Kicking myself for not sending in my LoCI last week...but it needs a lot of editing to be Harvard worthy.
Here's hoping I get it in this week, they read it, love it, and I get a KB1 and 2 all before May 1.

If that happens, will we still have a May 1 deposit deadline? At this point I'd almost rather get in later to have more time to decide between schools. Even if Harvard magically accepts me, I do not have another free weekend in April to visit. The rest of my month=ASW, ASW, business trip...Elric wrote:Kicking myself for not sending in my LoCI last week...but it needs a lot of editing to be Harvard worthy.

Have people not gotten decisions before deposit deadline in the past? I figured everyone they haven't decided on by then would just get a waitlist decision. And then if you get a decision off the waitlist, you'd have only a few days to accept.

ideally, i'd get a decision as close as possible to the deposit deadline so that i could have a few weeks to mull over my options...kindaklueless wrote:Have people not gotten decisions before deposit deadline in the past? But even if Harvard extends your deadline you still have to consider stanford etc. deadline which is May 1st as well.Geneva wrote:If that happens, will we still have a May 1 deposit deadline? My interview is Tuesday and I was seriously considering taking a trip to see harvard next weekend even if I haven't heard yet

Haha yeah. I was planning to withdraw from Stanford if I get into Harvard later and end up liking HLS better, but I guess that's a lot of money to pay for a bit of extra time. I already have my plane ticket to go to Berkeley's ASW next weekend or I would do the same. I would have visited earlier, but I really didn't think I had a shot at these schools...good problem to have, I suppose:)Dani.B wrote:But even if Harvard extends your deadline you still have to consider stanford etc. deadline which is May 1st as well.Geneva wrote:If that happens, will we still have a May 1 deposit deadline? Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
Figured I'd join in on the fun as I was held with the group last Wednesday.
What have people included with their LOCIs if basically nothing has changed in your app. I told them I'll be sending in my grades to the LSAC today, but I can't seem to come up with anything else.
I'm also trying to include something along the lines of "Harvard is the most highly ranked school to which I applied and I'll attend if your office chooses to admit me." Does this accomplish my goal of letting them know I'm a great yield decision without YS in the running or does it just come across as desperate?

I intend to send something along those lines when I inevitably get WLed, though I would leave out the ranked part. Just say, "Harvard is my top choice and I will attend if admitted."StrictlyBusiness wrote:Figured I'd join in on the fun as I was held with the group last Wednesday.

I think saying it's the highest ranked school you applied to is a mistake. You have to show them your reasons for wanting to attend are more meaningful than that.

Also who has everyone addressed them to? I have:
Director Admissions Karen Buttenbaum,
And that looks stupid to me. I should have paid more attention to writing letters stuff in 5th grade.

"Director Buttenbaum" would be what I would use. Or "Ms. Buttenbaum." Some people like to use "Dear _____." I would use a person if you have one. She used her name on the hold emails, so I'd address them to her.StrictlyBusiness wrote:Also who has everyone addressed them to? I have:

So we're getting down to the line..I'm assuming if we don't hear by the end of April, we're heading for the waitlist?

Re: HELD @ HARVARD 2012 style
I mean, I'm trying to keep hope alive, but I would say that unless people hear from KB in the next 10 days, they're probably headed for WLs/dings. I just can't imagine why Harvard would want to admit a significant number of people after their ASW. Maybe they don't care if we go, but from what I hear, they do try to put on a good show when admitted students come to Cambridge. What would be the point of letting in a bunch of people whom they'd have a difficult time wooing so late in the cycle?? I'm not including myself in this-- I'd jump at a Harvard acceptance at any time between now and mid-August, but I don't know/assume that everyone is as desperate as I am.Elliott_Smith wrote:So we're getting down to the line..I'm assuming if we don't hear by the end of April, we're heading for the waitlist?
