I'm leaning UCI with $40,000 a year over $ at UCLA and Michigan. The only way I don't end up at UCI is if UCLA ups my scholly significantly. I didn't make it to ASW, but it seems like it was amazing.tlsalltheway wrote:Me three!imadude wrote:I'm in a similar situation (no full ride at UCI) and am probably going to UCI. A full ride there is so extremely tempting.
This is making my UCI vs. USC/UCLA decision so much more difficult. Ugh.

For those that attended ASW: after hearing the Dean and all the panelists, where do you think UCI will fall in the rankings next year? I think they will achieve...

They won't be ranked until 2015. It's hard to say though. If they maintain their GPA/LSAT standards for the incoming classes over the next few years then I can see them being Top 20. On the other hand, if those numbers fall and are closer to say a Davis or a Hastings they'll probably be ranked closer to those schools.

I think I'm going to e-mail them and ask for their medians; they don't publish them on the website (only 25th/75th percentiles).Beachbum89 wrote:They won't be ranked until 2015. ETA: Granted, if they received 920 applications last year for a class of 89, and are receiving 1886 applications this year for a class of 110, I'm not really nervous.

The mutual interest in the school's success shared by the faculty, staff, and students makes me believe that UCI will debut in the top 20 and climb higher in the following years. Also, despite being such a young school, UCI already has a respectable reputation and is nationally recognized.

If I'm not mistaken I remember their median LSAT being 167; however, I might be mistaken.splitbrain wrote:I think I'm going to e-mail them and ask for their medians; they don't publish them on the website (only 25th/75th percentiles).Beachbum89 wrote:They won't be ranked until 2015. Chemerinsky sounded very confident that UCI will rank somewhere between 10 and 20, and he even invited us to personally ask him exactly where he believes UCI will place (he also said he will provide stats to back it up). After attending ASW, whatever slight concerns I had regarding the ranking vanished. It will be an exciting time for our class in March 2015 when the ranking comes out.

That will be interesting for sure.TrojanHopeful wrote:If I'm not mistaken I remember their median LSAT being 167; however, I might be mistaken.splitbrain wrote:I think I'm going to e-mail them and ask for their medians; they don't publish them on the website (only 25th/75th percentiles).Beachbum89 wrote:They won't be ranked until 2015. I was sold before I applied to schools. ASW was just a nice reminder that I was making the right choice.D1Swimmer wrote:Ok so for y'all that have sent in their SIR, did yall go to te ASW? Was that what sold you?

I am 99% sure I am going to UCI. The only thing keeping me from reaching 100% is that I have not heard back from UCLA. I am almost at the point that a response from UCLA would not matter...I'm holding out for a few more days.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
