I am a splitter, and I read somewhere that they are trying to focus more on GPA this year, so I am expecting a WL at best, but it is nice to finally hear back from somebody.

And now the obsessively checking the mailbox begins...

Low GPA here as well but i submitted back in November (no why ND and regretting it now). Hopefully we both get in!

For those of you who already received their decision: did the field next to "term" change to "fall" on your status checker. Mine stayed blank and my status is "decision made." I'm wondering if this is significant.

Waitlisted yesterday. 160 3.59 Shocked it wasn't an auto-reject. Anyone know the chances of being accepted off it and when you typically hear from them?

Just thought I would ask...those of you who are getting the no "why ND" waitlists, any of you really serious about wanting to go to ND?

I am an ND alum and I find it hard to believe that anyone who knows anything about ND wouldn't see that avoiding the Why ND essay would pretty much auto waitlist you.

I was originally complete on 12/6 and the date updated to 2/3 last week. It still says complete though....does Notre Dame have an "under review" status?

No, it goes from Complete to Decision Made.

I am an ND alum and I find it hard to believe that anyone who knows anything about ND wouldn't see that avoiding the Why ND essay would pretty much auto waitlist you.

I agree, but people do get in every year without writing them. It's pretty evident when you look at the student body. However, NDLS does a better job than most law schools at filtering out people and getting those who are a good fit for the school.

Your post brought to mind one of my favorite Lou Holtz quotes:

“I am often asked to explain the mystique at Notre Dame. I reply, ‘If you were there no explanation is necessary. If you weren’t, no explanation is satisfactory.’”

anyone have any idea how many candidates accept waitlist spots? the waitlist letter says that each year the office typically takes 25-50 candidates from the waitlist...but out of how many? hundreds?
