Someone please help me with this..
PT at SW or FT at Whittier.
Keep in mind I will take some summer classes to catch up at SW or do well and transfer to FT after 1st year

The dean of admissions says she is my advocate, the admissions alumni director is my advocate as well. Let's pray I get in.

Re: Southwestern 2011
I think you should take PT at SW. If you do well and are a candidate to change to FT then ta'da you did it! And/or you may find you are happy with the PT pace, extra time for career prospecting, and smoother sailing (= better GPA?)
The newest rankings have SW at 121 (out of 140). Whittier (and Western State) still did not make the cut. At least that is something......
Good luck to you. I can see you really want SW.
I say go for it and never look back.
Your future will thank you for more reasons than one.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be putting down my deposit next week....however, I was wondering why SW continuously is ranked as a 3rd tier school?

a number of things, one of them being their relatively low bar passage rateRAB wrote:I'm pretty sure I'm going to be putting down my deposit next week....however, I was wondering why SW continuously is ranked as a 3rd tier school?

When I visited there, I asked the same thing because the school to me seems very innovative and up and coming. They essentially told me that their lower ranking is because of their emphasis on diversity within the school. Minorities (statistically speaking, I know there are outliers to every statistic) have lower LSATs and GPAs for the most part. This keeps their medians lower which prevents them from moving up in the rankings.RAB wrote:I'm pretty sure I'm going to be putting down my deposit next week....however, I was wondering why SW continuously is ranked as a 3rd tier school?
You can take this any way you want I guess, this is just what I was told when I was there.

Honestly..I'd rather go to SW and be at the top of my class then go to USC and be at the bottom of my class..just saying.

This is my first post here so a formal hello to everyone. I have been lurking here for the past month and found some good info. I was recently put on the WL for SW and sent them a LOCI. Oblivion 08, did you call the DOA and the AAD? I was wondering if I should do so.

What are your numbers? PM them to me. And what program were you put on the WL for?

Emailed admissions regarding my status. They apologized for the delay and said they emailed the person responsible for reviewing my app. I guess they are still really behind. I have my first seat deposit due in 5 day, so hopefully I hear soon. Has anyone received a partial scholarship? If not, I may just withdraw.

Well, I assume this means I am not getting one. Ha. I have no idea what you are referring to.
Is this a celebration for recipients? Or an information session for hopefuls?
Details??

Celebration for recipients. Since their first seat deposit isn't due yet though, maybe you'll still get one.2807 wrote:zla2014 wrote:Anyone going to the Scholarship Event on Friday?

There's no need to reread your posts. I was wondering if you had something 'new' to share.

Re: Southwestern 2011
SW emailed me asking if I want to interview for SCALE, despite the fact that I've already been accepted to the PT program. I think I'm going to do it. Any tips on what to be prepared for in the interview? Also, if I'm offered an interview, does this mean I have a good shot at being accepted for the program?

Re: Southwestern 2011
There's nothing to worry about. When I did it, it was the least nerve wracking cake walk of an interview. Like a bunch of people said before it's more of an informational phone call, the lady just tells you what's up and how things work. I think the only question I remember getting that messed me up a little was "what kind of problems do you think you might encounter," and I arrogantly didn't want to answer "none"... but I did and explained why. She seemed to enjoy that answer. But besides that, I don't even remember being asked any other questions.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
