Ok...well first I want to focus on Entertainment/Contract law (which of course in Miami you'd have access to many more relavent connects)...but it seems like Florida States has a wider job presence throughout all of Florida. Quick pros and cons, FSU much cheaper cost of living and it seems like my tuition is fully paid. I currently attend UF,and I love gainesvilles weather as opposed to all sun and hurricane in miami...so tally would be ideal for weather, and I've heard travelling in Miami is just ridiculous....but yea, just what I want to do, and the chancesof gaining valuable resources in miami, is the only reason this argument is up in the air.govorett wrote:Where do you want to work and what do you want to do?FortuneFavorsTheBold wrote:honest opinion from all....just got the call from FSU...they offering 17k/year (their tuitionis about 15).....UM offered me 20k/yr (which still isnt enough)....what whould you guys do, and why specifically
fwiw, here are FSU's placement stats : --LinkRemoved--
So, if you are debt-averse, it looks like FSU may be your best bet. Now, whether or not you want the Miami experience or not is up to you.

I think the "Miami experience" point is valid. Completely different than Tallahassee. I've been to both and must say that I really liked Tallahassee, much more of a college campus feel. Also, the type of person (not law, but ugrad) is a bit difficult to deal with sometimes at Miami, in my opinion. Not all people are alike at Miami, but the stereotype is not completely false either. Also, in your case, FSU is cheaper. I would go FSU. Check the GPA requirements for the scholarships as well. That can be a breaker or maker.govorett wrote:Where do you want to work and what do you want to do?FortuneFavorsTheBold wrote:honest opinion from all....just got the call from FSU...they offering 17k/year (their tuitionis about 15).....UM offered me 20k/yr (which still isnt enough)....what whould you guys do, and why specifically

There's definitely a "UM Bubble," but with the right guidance it is possible to break out of it!yepyep wrote:I think the "Miami experience" point is valid. Completely different than Tallahassee. The way I understand it, they are similar but when your application is being held they have not made a decision and are waiting to decide until they are closer to the app deadline. With a wait list, you are literally put on a list and you get in if others who have been accepted withdraw.
Others, feel free to correct me. I'm not 100% on this...

I submitted on 1/3. My LSDAS report was sent on 1/6 and I got an email acknowledging they had received the report the same day. My CaneID was in the same email.RAB wrote:Can someone please tell me how long its taken them to get their cane id? I submitted my app on the 6th and still have not received anything...

158/3.24 so I am at least somewhat disappointed in my application being held. I know I don't have auto-admit numbers for Miami but I was feeling somewhat confident of an acceptance. Maybe a little over confident. Time for a LOCI and the waiting game I guess...RooksWS6 wrote:Iceman389 wrote:Got the e-mail to check my status. Told that my application is being held. Miami does a status checker, right? I applied at the end of December and still haven't received a status checker username or anything...

I believe you have to have a 3.2 after every year. I got the same scholarship and that's what I gathered from the letter. It's 24k/year, renewable every year as long as you maintain a 3.2. Seems like a yearly requirement to me.

fwiw, it looks like a 3.2 is the top-third. --LinkRemoved--

Yea I'm gonna take the offer and head to the U. Anyone else here decided to go? Top third seems reasonable, considering median LSAT's and such, though I don't have the correlation of LSAT performance to actual first year results, but supposedly they're fairly strong.

UM is very generous to me. I am being offered $30,000 per year. COA is estimated at $38,000. Good luck to all of you

Love how people who are in at at T2 school think it's a shoe-in they will finish in the top third. Sigh. Not my money.
