Ding in San Diego. Le sigh - I can't say I'm surprised. Just glad now that I asked for and received a fee waiver.

No status checker, you just get a complete email after a while. Took me over a month to get it so you should get yours in the next couple weeks or so.

I worry that extending the deadline to March 1st will mean their decisions go out even later than normal...since they're going to have to wait until they've reviewed those later applications to start putting together the class (excepting the small number of auto-admits). I really hope they don't push back the deadline to have decisions out even later than April 30th...

+1.

Although my ding letter may very well be on my local mail-truck this very second, so it may not matter...

Pretty certain they won't push decisions until after the deposit deadlines at other schools--Yale doesn't strike me as the type of school that'd engage in somewhat shady practices. Though it is possible some of us will be waiting longer for our acceptances/rejections/waitlist.

Wow! I've been agonizing over my 250 and was just getting ready to send it in. But now that I have some extra time I'm going to sleep on it.

I'd call them, my app turned out to have the dean's certificate misplaced, and I only found out by calling, it's definitely worth a call at this point. They'll ask for your lsac or ssn and can check which piece is missing.

I don't see the downside of extending the deadline. Their selectivity goes up, and revenue also goes up since they don't give merit waivers and they don't honor LSAC waiver.

however, you can still get a fee waiver from yale. as extensive as the fee waiver process is at yale, people still get waivers. nonetheless, i can still rev going up overall.

Holy crap, March 15 now (maybe)? They must really not like their current pool of applicants

http://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/JD.htm (back one page from the "Steps in Applying as a First-Year" page) says the deadline's been extended to March 1st, not the 15th. Pretty sure the twitter's accurate.

And because I can,

The screenshot is accurate; they surely are are bound by this pronouncement of the March 15 date.

This is quite an unusual cycle, not just for YLS but in general.

How much or little do you think this could reflect on the AO's dislike of the current pool of applicants? >.>......

There is literally no way Yale is not pleased with their pool of applicants.

It's Yale...

They probably had enough quality people to put together a par Yale class by October.
Just saying...

If you don't mind sharing, how extensive is it? If I could get a fee waiver then I'd seriously think about applying.

If they normally spend the whole year putting together an average (par) Yale class, why would they be able to put one together in October in a down year?

I know, this is what perplexes me. Asha always says they could easily fill their class several times over with qualified applicants--so why extend the deadline and have to turn away even more qualified people? Is it really just to raise the selectivity rating and bring in a few more bucks? That doesn't seem like Yale.

Also, it's been more than five weeks since I submitted, and I'm still not complete, so I finally broke down and called the admissions office to see if anything was missing. All they said was that it hasn't been processed yet, so they don't know if anything's missing. Not even processed yet?! Argh.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
