Yea, my interest isn't exactly the best fit for Iowa. They have 1 professor who teaches my specific area of interest and he is a visiting professor. Iowa seems to be behind in cyber law and patent law so I wouldn't be super bummed about not getting in. Though I do have family in the area who I would've used as a resource.tropicalpeach wrote:Sorry to hear thatMy PS was about INTL LAW experience and I tailored my last paragraph to be about the Iowa intl law program...maybe that's why I heard relatively quickly.
Good luck!

When I spoke with admissions, they told me thqt they would have some sort of decision by March 15 - admi, deny or regular (ranked) waitlist.alexb wrote:One month and a day until they start taking a second look at us prelim. waitlisters. Just sayin'.
Oh, I must have understood that backwards. I thought they would start making decisions then. Cool, thanks!DocHawkeye wrote:When I spoke with admissions, they told me thqt they would have some sort of decision by March 15 - admi, deny or regular (ranked) waitlist.alexb wrote:One month and a day until they start taking a second look at us prelim. waitlisters. Scholarship recipients are allotted $300 for documented travel expenses including airfare, mileage on a personal vehicle (but not a rental), and hotel only. Receipts or credit card statements must be shown, and the amount is only awarded if you matriculate.tropicalpeach wrote:Does anyone know if they offer a travel stipend to attend an ASW?
Thanks!
Okay I've seen an increase in the weirdos using TLS lately. Is this normal at this point in the cycle?brupe wrote:I was prelim waitlisted 12/17. Is the year commitment really so solid that you can't get out of it to go to school? That seems odd to me... The only jobs I've been in that are a "one-year minimum commitment" are just ones that paid relocation, and if you quit before a year you just pay back the relocation assistance.brupe wrote:I was prelim waitlisted 12/17. I never got anything personal from Iowa...feel special.clintone88 wrote:I got a nice semi-personal email today about my previous experience and my personal statement that definitely boosted Iowa way up in the schools I'm considering. Even if it was something everyone received it's a nice touch to let me know I'm not just receiving the exact same mass emails as everyone else.
Yea, email them back then because that's when the deadline is so they will index every candidate and likely go from there.dreakol wrote:I never got anything personal from Iowa...feel special.clintone88 wrote:I got a nice semi-personal email today about my previous experience and my personal statement that definitely boosted Iowa way up in the schools I'm considering. FWIW I emailed them asking them about scholarships and they send to email them back in two weeks.
Was accepted 12/10 w/ 3.67 169

The only additional bumps you get to your index is 1. URM or 2. In-state.
It looks like it'll be close for you to get a full merit. If you are URM or In-State I'd say you're a lock for one.
We can't answer this without your numbers.bbermud wrote:
so what are the chances that iowa would be nice be and give me any sort of money??
1) in state 2) hispanic (colombian)/ URM? 3) EFC is $0 4) my LSAT score is no where near ne thing to merit me a merit-scholarship.

You are in-state correct?Prairie wrote:so, i got home from a work meeting today and had a FULL TUITION Merit Scholar award in the mailbox!game changer. also, did not think that i warranted a full ride with my numbers, so i am guessing something is up with their applicant pool this year or they really liked my work experience.
