Does anyone know if the admissions office is working this week (Spring Break)?

Can't speak for the admissions office in particular, but campus is generally open for business over spring break (including the undergrad admissions office).DeadLaw wrote:Does anyone know if the admissions office is working this week (Spring Break)?

Question: You guys would definitely take UNC with a 75% scholly over Fordham at sticker right? I just got into Fordham and now have a semi-dilemma. My family and everyone I know is in NY, pretty much. Is 75% at UNC too good to pass up?

In all seriousness, 75 just seems like too much to pass up, unless you are comfortable with the debt of fordham.

UNC all the way! No but really it all depends on---Where do you want to work? What are your career aspirations?SupraVln180 wrote:Question: You guys would definitely take UNC with a 75% scholly over Fordham at sticker right? I just got into Fordham and now have a semi-dilemma. Sigh. What are you asking me for? I could be a resident at a mental hospital or the 48-year-old cashier at Dairy Queen or some spiteful b-word who just wants to make your life more complicated. More likely, I'm the girl next in line to receive your UNC scholly or the guy who wants your seat at Fordham.
But since my mama taught me to do on to others, let me ask you some questions: Where do you want to work? What type of law firm do you want to work in? Are you into sweet tea and college basketball?
If you have answers to those three questions and you're familiar with where students get hired from each school, then you should be able to arrive at a conclusion. OK, back to making this Blizzard.

It depends on your career goals and how debt adverse you are. Fordham at sticker is a scary, IMO. Especially since you have a substantially cheaper offer on the table.

I really loved UNC when I visited. But the big problem is my girlfriend is in NYC and I know it will be extremely difficult for me to get back to NYC. I do have ties in NYC with a pretty prominent lawyer who has ties to alot of firms, politics, etc. He said he can "put me with the right people" if I decide to go to UNC and come back to NYC every summer. I don't know what that means though. If the regionalness of schools werent an issue, this would be a no brainer.

How serious is your relationship & could you make it work long distance?SupraVln180 wrote:I really loved UNC when I visited. Yes, I could for 3 years easily, however, I cannot forever if I can't get a job in NY or NJ and yes, it's a very serious relationshipdddhhh wrote:How serious is your relationship & could you make it work long distance?SupraVln180 wrote:I really loved UNC when I visited. Supra, I was looking forward to meeting you in April, but it seems like if you want to end up in NY or NJ that a NY school would provide more networking opportunities.

I will be at ASW no matter what. I am extremely debt averse. I'm not exactly rolling in dough, so this scholly at UNC was a big deal for me. UNC is still ahead of Fordham for me, but Fordham is a serious, serious consideration.IceQueen wrote:Supra, I was looking forward to meeting you in April, but it seems like if you want to end up in NY or NJ that a NY school would provide more networking opportunities.

Supra, I am glad to hear you will be there. I am planning on going to both days to meet as many fellow students as possible. Since you just found out about Fordham, it may be good to just be happy about your acceptance and not let any indecision take away from that for now. The right decision will present itself.

It seems very obvious to me. You can always go home and you have what it takes to network in NYC. Fordham simply doesn't have the reputation to justify that much debt.SupraVln180 wrote:I will be at ASW no matter what. I am extremely debt averse. Finally went complete today. I went to WFU for undergrad, and would be very interested in spending the next three years of my life in Chapel Hill.

I know, you're right, if I had no ties to anyone in NY, I would be totally fine with staying in the region. However, life doesn't work like that, so it just makes the decision difficult. I am still waiting on some hail marys, so if I get one of them, I will go there. But most likely it will be UNC.innernetp wrote:(that said I am in a similar situation, ironically)innernetp wrote:It seems very obvious to me. On a random note, did any admits get there unc students site login and password? I remember during Chancellor Scholars' weekend Dean States said something about how it is a new system this year and has been difficult. I am just wondering b/c all the other schools I've been admitted to, gave me a login.

+1 I'm really hoping to avoid the waitlist at UNC. Just a rejection or an acceptance, ASAP, would take a lot of pressure off me. I know where I'm going if I don't get into UNC, and I know where I'm going if I do. I just want to know.
Anyone want to call to see if they're working this week? Jerseygirl, if you're over there, are the lights on in the admissions office?

Since the ASW e-mail's just went out, what ASW's are you guys attending? I'm leaning towards the 8th, but I am really not sure how crazy my schedule is going to be, so I'm still up in the air.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
