Haha, I thought that was ridiculous, although this excerpt from Vanderbilt was just as funny to me:

"I once read a personal statement with a cover memo that indicated the applicant recognized that the suggested length was two pages, but there was so much of importance to convey that his statement required ten pages. The memo closed with an apology and an assurance that the author had done everything possible to keep the statement brief and on-point. The first line of the statement began: “It was a dark and stormy night when I was born …” There were many detailed accounts of events and circumstances that seemed easily understood without the detail provided. There might have been much to say, but the statement left the impression that the candidate was either unable or did not bother to distill his message to a more cogent presentation."

If I made any application errors, at least they weren't nearly as egregious as these

What I do not get is why they need so much time between giving ED acceptances and informing the other ED candidates that were not granted admissions a decision (e.g. WL or rejection). They should have their minds made up around the same time (if not at the same time) as the ED acceptances. Seems bizarre to me.

I feel ya man. I mean, I know i got waitlisted or rejected but official confirmation would have been nice sooner after they made the admit calls.

Scholarship offers came a couple weeks after acceptances, IIRC.

But only important, new, relevant things obviously.
You don't wannt to annoy them with pointless materials.

If you can't tell by now, I love it. It's my favorite US city. I highly recommend visiting even if you're not as in love with UChi as I am because it's a fun city to visit (and they give a $200 travel stipend for ASW so that helps!)

I grew up mainly in Indiana and used to make the trip to Chicago all the time. Definitely my favorite city so far(I havent been out to NorCal yet though). Unfortunately, the UChicago area doesnt really showcase the city. Beautiful campus though.
