Both of those are about 2 hours from where I live but it might be worth it. Now convincing my parents to pay for another prep course is a different story. But I am looking into this!

Thanks so much, Everyone hear has been really kind and I'm genuinely happy for those that have gotten accepted and waitlisted.

Those on the WL are you going to wait it out or withdraw?
I'll be waiting it out as it's the only great school (besides Stanford which I'd never get into) in the Bay Area. Otherwise my fiance and I will have to go long-distance for 3 years.

Congrats. I had the same LSAT and nearly the same GPA, would you mind PMing me your softs. I was rejected so I'm trying to figure out what I need to improve for next year.

At least it wasnt a school I was very interested in (should have made up a BS LOCI though). And after the tuition hikes that will happen over the next few years, no way I could justify going to a 55k a year state school.

Sucks for both of us then. I was really using Berk as a test to see if my softs were decent (see if I had a shot at SLS). Guess im just another app. Its just strange looking on LSN and seeing people with my exact same stats get rejected from Berk and accepted at SLS. After reading alot of posts it seemed like if SLS, then Berk (excluding their massive YP), guess thats not the case.

At least its my first rejection this cycle. Ive been saving the rest of my bottle of blue label for my first ding...

Dinged. 176, 4.05. Is it narcissistic to rationalize this as YP?

Are you a felon? If not, then its 100% YP. I wish I could rationalize my ding as a YP, but it looks like I just dont have any softs :(

I don't think Berk really YPs anyone. I just think that the FR committee doesn't care about numbers.

Yeah but Dean Tom YPed them by sending them to FR instead of admitting them directly.

WL-ed. Should I take the Dean Tom interview on TLS at face value and believe that LOCIs and visits will pretty much do nothing? Congrats to all of you guys who got in :)

You can believe that if you want, but the stats on LSN don't really back that up, as the area that is most green and least yellow/red is in the 175+, 3.8+ region.

True, and good point, but it is interesting that no one with a march decision was accepted with over a 171 (via LSN) so far. Maybe FR is totally based on softs?

Sorry to hear you got dinged hellokitty - I checked this board just to see what happened with you! I got dinged as well but I'm not really that disappointed because I was never really that excited to begin with. And at this point I'm just glad to be closer to a decision.
(But if I wake up depressed tomorrow I'll know why...)

Eh most people who got FR2 to begin with applied rather late. If you apply to Berkeley after around mid-Dec, it seems that the 'admit' option is off the table for Dean Tom - either it's FR or rejection. In order to argue for YP, you have to show that someone with lower numbers had a better shot, and that's certainly not the case.

hehe thanks, the disappointment hasn't really hit me yet but i have no doubt that i'm going to turn into a mental wreck tonight or when i wake up tomorrow morning. it doesn't help that my cycle is quickly going down the tubes and i think i might already have gotten my last acceptance.

I wish I were there! We could go out for drinks and have a pity party. Not like it's not what I'm doing right now, but some company would be nice. :)

Just from the statistics on LSN, applicants with less than a 170 completely outperformed higher scorers in march. I know this doesnt prove anything, but its still interesting and unexpected.

complete conjecture but one idea: when he was considering FR2, the Dean sent people with either (good numbers) or (lower numbers + great softs). If the faculty are really focused on softs, that would explain why the lower-numbered people outperformed.

Same numbers, same result as well. Guess it didn't help to have a recommendation from a Cal PhD.
