Do you guys not need certification in Texas?
We need certification and courses are about 10k. ick.
Also, don't think I mentioned it on here, but I withdrew last month and I'm moving to Morocco early next year.

Certification? You need certification and all that stuff if you're going to be a career paralegal. If you're just doing one of these stints, you don't need anything like that. (At least at big firms in every major city that I've looked at)BlackCanary wrote:yay! congrats!bound wrote:Officially withdrawn, my WUSTLUT babes![]()

Then you'd be a legal assistant / paid substantially less. At least here, anyways. In GA you can be called a paralegal regardless of certification, but they're not paid quite as much as they are here.scottidsntknow wrote:Certification? Hi guys -- haven't posted in TLS in a long time, but I just got my acceptance (+ $$$) on Tuesday (I applied super super late), and there's a very very high chance I'll be going there!
Pretty unexpected, since my GPA was crap, but I'll take it!

Congrats on the job bound, sad to see you go though! At least you'll have a bunch of Rising 2L's to snag outlines from next yearbound wrote:Officially withdrawn, my WUSTLUT babes![]()

Moving to Morocco sounds very cool, it's one of the places I've always wanted to visit. If you apply in a later cycle you'll have a really interesting travel PS and you get to wear a Fez!BlackCanary wrote: Also, don't think I mentioned it on here, but I withdrew last month and I'm moving to Morocco early next year.
In other news ND accepted me off their WL with comparable money, I'm now having a grass is always greener (Or more Catholic, in this case) moment...dat clerk rate... Does anyone think it would be poor form to go back to WUSTL and ask them to bump scholly at this point to compete? Please don't quote.
Edit: Welcome aboard the crazy train Chem!

Dredd, definitely not poor form. You should certainly go back and ask for more, worst they can do is say no as long as you don't come off like an asshole

Is there a system for what people mean when they use $ to describe their scholarship offers? Does $$$ mean something?cheme2014 wrote:Hi guys -- haven't posted in TLS in a long time, but I just got my acceptance (+ $$$) on Tuesday (I applied super super late), and there's a very very high chance I'll be going there!Pretty unexpected, since my GPA was crap, but I'll take it!
If not, I propose a way of indicating offers to our friends here…
$ for >10k/year
$$ for >20k/year
$$$ for >30k/year
etc, what do you all think?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
I've always thought of it in total figures. $ for single figures, $$ for 10,000, 20,000, etc and $$$ for 100k and above total...then again, no one would have $$$$ with my system. Guess I never really thought it out.taker_of_lsats wrote:Is there a system for what people mean when they use $ to describe their scholarship offers? Re: WUSTL c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
That's exactly the problem! There is no system, who knows what people mean when they say these numbers? Wouldn't it be more helpful, in terms of both sharing information and congratulation, if we all had a ballpark idea of what people meant?John Everyman wrote:I've always thought of it in total figures. $ for single figures, $$ for 10,000, 20,000, etc and $$$ for 100k and above total...then again, no one would have $$$$ with my system. Haha, good point. Well, in my case, I meant > 100k (total), so I guess I got lucky lol.taker_of_lsats wrote:Is there a system for what people mean when they use $ to describe their scholarship offers?
