I don't exactly know what all the terminology is. I just received an email to interview. So I guess I got the invite to JS1 but not the actual JS1 yet. I have to schedule it still.

When do holds typically turn into a decision? I'm too lazy to go scour. I was in the first wave of holds in january if that makes a difference.

Doubtful. I think it would have started already. Gut says next week with everyone having heard something by cob next friday.

I don't know if there is some sort of "conventional wisdom" about this on TLS, but if any of you have thoughts, would like to hear it:

I've seen that the overall JS1 -> JS2 rate is about 70%. Is that the same for all applicants, regardless of numbers? Or are interviews for candidates with very high numbers essentially a formality? I guess the question I'm asking is: if you get a JS1/KB1, does that mean you've jumped the numbers hurdle and are in the same pool as everyone else, just dependent on your interview? Or is it still an uphill battle for those of us with JS1/KB1s and subpar numbers?

Thanks man! This is actually my very first potential acceptance out of all my applications.

Held Columbia/UVA/USC. Rejected Berkeley. Waiting on Y/S.

Super late apps though because I did Dec. LSAT and my score was held an additional 2 weeks due to a fee waiver.
=/

Regardless, it's nice to know I'm not a total reject! Gives me hope going forward after the holds.

I don't know if there is some sort of "conventional wisdom" about this on TLS, but if any of you have thoughts, would like to hear it:

I've seen that the overall JS1 -> JS2 rate is about 70%. Is that the same for all applicants, regardless of numbers? Or are interviews for candidates with very high numbers essentially a formality? I guess the question I'm asking is: if you get a JS1/KB1, does that mean you've jumped the numbers hurdle and are in the same pool as everyone else, just dependent on your interview? The career services rep at my school put it well: if you're numbers aren't strong, they're looking for reasons to take you. If your numbers are strong, they're looking for reasons not to take you. I think the bar is higher for those with weaker numbers, but as long as you are good at interviews, you should be fine no matter what your numbers are. (Footnote to that: you don't know how good you are at interviews: make sure you have someone who can be objective assess your skills.)

Impossible to know. It would make sense that numbers don't go away just because you get an interview. Harvard has also made clear they have no problem dinging high candidates post js1
