Michigan was the third school I withdrew from even though and I still felt a pang of sadness when they emailed me back to confirm taking me off the list. Wasn't expecting it since the first two went without feelings. Am I allowed to cheer for michigan at northwestern games?80eight wrote:Withdrew as well. I feel like crying. +1. I still sort of regret my decision to be honest.foxylaxy wrote:Michigan was the third school I withdrew from even though and I still felt a pang of sadness when they emailed me back to confirm taking me off the list. Withdrew also (with some $). Michigan was the most beautiful law school out of the ones I visited, everyone I met was super nice, and Dean Z is as awesome in person as she seems on paper/online. But I really couldn't stand the thought of living in Ann Arbor. It just didn't appeal to me.
Best of luck to those still waiting on decisions. eta: typed too quickly last night, that came out much more strongly that I intended.

I withdrew this morning and they emailed me back asking which other school I was attending and why. How honest can/should I be about this?

Your post prompted me to email Dean Zearfoss and let her know personally I'm not going. I made it brief but nice and honest. I think she deserves it, with all the attention she gives all admitted students.No13baby wrote:I withdrew this morning and they emailed me back asking which other school I was attending and why. Yeah, I was super impressed by how nice and helpful Mich was during my cycle. It was a hard choice for me. I know I would have had a great experience at Michigan too.hypothalamus wrote:Your post prompted me to email Dean Zearfoss and let her know personally I'm not going. How are you off the waitlist and a possible summer starter? How do you not know that yet? School starts in 2 weeks. You'd think they would have told you when they took you off the waitlist.

TLS bloggers can be so critical, one of the reasons many people do not contribute to these forums. Like some comments add very little if any value or or positivity to not only this process, but to the forum as well.JoeMo wrote:Congratulations.jadoreGLACE wrote:Phone call two weeks ago! I am well aware of the offer Michgan extended to me. I am also aware of the summer start date, as are they. However I was JUST notified today and was not expected to respond during that phone call.
This is my last post here, but GL to everyone waiting to hear back from amazing schools, including Michigan!

I don't think above poster was being critical of YOU, he/she was just saying it seems kind of absurd that Michigan hasn't told you yet whether you'd be a summer starter.jadoreGLACE wrote:TLS bloggers can be so critical, one of the reasons many people do not contribute to these forums. TLS bloggers are critical, but so is the real world. Get over it.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Thank you and you seemed to get it right. I'm just astonished because I'm a summer starter, I'm already moved in to my home in Ann Arbor. The other summer starters I know are either here or trickling in over the next few days. I was just saying it was kind of ridiculous for the school to say "hey, you might be a summer starter" on such a short timeline. Even though I have heard of people that get removed from the waitlist the day classes start I thought that would be more common in the fall. Not that it would make it better/easier in the fall but just that it would be more common. Also, housing in Ann Arbor seems to be pretty hard to come by and I wouldn't want to have to decide on housing and move less than 2 weeks before classes are supposed to start.jrthor10 wrote:

Also, I wasn't being critical but as this poster said, people in the real world will be critical. If my comment offended you, which there wasn't anyting offensive about it, I recommend you get thicker skin. It will help you in the long run.
Best of luck to you and I'll see you in 2 weeks (maybe)

Don't go to law school. You don't have the stones to survive with the current rice-paper-thin skin you have. You should be an anonymous critic. That way, you can bitch all you want about whatever you choose and never need to deal with anyone "offending" your delicate sensibilities.

I'm not sure of j'adore's situation, but when they called me they gave me the option of starting summer or fall--which I declined summer right away (I'm not that adventurous, haha). Perhaps the others that got the call (seems like a handful) weren't sure if they wanted to do SS or not, and were given a deadline. Maybe there's a sort of rolling list, if that makes sense.
Perhaps this helps to clarify things? *shrugs*

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
That's insane. Although there are a bunch of summer sublets available everywhere so I guess finding somewhere to live wouldn't be as annoying but still I can't imagine planning a move in 2 weeks. Unless you're local I don't really see how that would be anything but a stress inducing experience. It was stressful for me and I planned for months.Moriarty wrote:I'm not sure of j'adore's situation, but when they called me they gave me the option of starting summer or fall--which I declined summer right away (I'm not that adventurous, haha). I have no idea what this even means. Your reaction came off as having the ability to be offended rather easily. Even when unwarranted. What is "too tough not to go to law school"? I actually don't consider myself tough but I am really thick skinned. I don't let things that people say get under my skin very easily at all.jadoreGLACE wrote:I see how I could have read that the wrong way, and misunderstood your confusion so my apologies for the above post. Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I don't understand this. I'm a summer starter too. But i'm moving into a furnished sublet (as are most), so why is it necessary to be there two weeks in advance? I'm not planning on showing up until the Saturday before orientation. 72 hours is more than enough time to get settled into a furnished place before two days of orientation and then one day of class.JoeMo wrote: I'm just astonished because I'm a summer starter, I'm already moved in to my home in Ann Arbor.
