Oh yeah, i would never take sticker at Fordham..but that's cuz i don't want NYC. If they're prioritizing NYC then they should take Fordham. Or better yet, re-take and re-apply. But i'm a little confused because if OP got a full-ride at Bama and got into Fordham, then he or she likely has a middle-ground option that has decent NYC placement. So not sure why it's a Bama or Fordham or Bust issue..Dmini7 wrote:To be fair, They have a full ride at Bama and no money at fordham.

I agree with this. I can't imagine being in NYC, so it is a pretty easy choice for me if I were in that situation (and I am very debt averse). I didn't read too closely to see if they were NYC or bust, I do remember then saying they wanted to eventually work in NYC though. I would say negotiate with Fordham, but if I recall correctly, they don't negotiate :/.cusenation wrote:Oh yeah, i would never take sticker at Fordham..but that's cuz i don't want NYC. Ah I was just wondering if other people were invited and/or if it was going to be a group or individual meeting(s). Did they tell you 9am too?JesusChrist wrote:Anyone going to the event/coffee meetup in SF this Thursday? It's sorta late notice and I just took time off but we'll see.

8AM actually. Are you thinking of going?
ETA: I'm sorry. I meant they notified me at 8AM PST about the event. The email says to meet at 9.

Yeah exact same time that I received the email. I have to double check with my supervisor since I'd be late to work, but I will most likely end up going. Need to impress them since I haven't gotten my scholly yet!JesusChrist wrote:8AM actually. Are you thinking of going?

Lurking new threads today and saw this. Being a southerner, I thought I'd let you know it's even worse than you suspect. Bama is in TUSCALOOSA, the school is the whole town. Cannot see the road to midtown Manhattan running through TUSCALOOSA Alabama, regardless of the rankings.JayJones78 wrote:I mean, he/she got an almost full ride to Bama, which is great. And I really don't think Fordham at sticker should be recommended (although I may have to face a decision if to take it if they take me off their WL) but why the hell this is even a credited connection.danitt wrote:Oh Jesus Christ!JayJones78 wrote:Someone in the Fordham thread is now considering going to Bama over Fordham because of the rise of Alabama and the decline of Fordham when their objective is living and working in NYC.
If you want to live and work in NYC, and sure of it why the hell would you even consider Bama? Do you think hiring partners from midtown cares about it's wonderful rise in the rankings? Or they are going to get on the firm's privet jet and fly to Birmingham (I assume that's where the campus is) to hand pick Bama students? I'm pretty baffled.

I straight up wrote in my "WHY WUSTL" essay the following, and it seemed to have worked:Eberry wrote:I would consider going to WUSTL just for the best ribs in America.
...I admit, being a Californian, I have never been to St. Louis, but I have close friends who recently relocated to Clayton (as executives at Enterprise) and they absolutely adore the city. I am excited to explore a new area of the country, find the best best BBQ joint in town and receive a top-notch education.

It's one of the beauties of St. Louis. Low cost of living in a big city. It's not the greatest city, but it's better than Ithaca, South Bend, or Urbana-Champaign.shntn wrote:Oh wow. It's not easy doing what I do though. Can't take those trips to the casino, have to cook my own food or live off the dollar menus, etc. I still have enough money for bar review though, and that's all that matters.

I think I'll go too, even though parking will be like $30 at Intercontinental. That said, they have a lovely brunch. If anyone needs a ride from the Peninsula (or Potrero/DogPatch/Soma), PM me.andy261 wrote:Yeah exact same time that I received the email. Nah--probably Moscone garage (they have a $10 early bird special) or SFMoMA garage, both of which are cheaper--I forgot that Intercontinental is South of Market. But gah--I hate going into the City in rush hour. Bonus is that I can work from the SF office that day and have a lunch date with a friend (gotta plan your fun!).JesusChrist wrote:Surely you won't actually be parking at the Intercontinental.RedGiant wrote:I think I'll go too, even though parking will be like $30 at Intercontinental. I'm thinking that the best part of the high COL projection, relative to the actual costs, is that you can save a fair amount of money and then use it to travel where the hell you want 2L/3L year to interview and such...Lovin it
