Do you know if there is a general deadline for RD fall starters or does that vary too?
From most of the fall starters I know that I've spoken to it seems to bet that 4/12-4/15 are the dates. So in a few days. I would assume at that point they'd have a better idea of matriculation rates and can either extend waitlist offers or offers of admission to those of you still waiting.

Wait, my acceptance letter says 4/30. I'm a fall starter. Just making sure, there's not earlier deadlines for the scholarships like there are for Georgetown, right?

Fall starter, freaked out when I read this. Checked my admissions letter and it says 4/30 too. My guess is that if you had an earlier deposit date for some reason, they would have told you.

Yeah, that's why it says in your "conditions of offer" to check your initial offer letter. I know I got admitted forever ago and maybe that's why mine was 4/12. A few other people I have spoken with were in similar situations. And as you've seen Unam says his said sometime back in January because he ED'd. So even if it's only a small percentage of the class that has a deadline this coming week I would assume they have some sort of algorithm to figure out how the yield for those people will translate into the rest of the cycle and extend some offers or waitlists to those still waiting. It's all speculation though but I would suspect initial decisions to anyone that hasn't gotten one would be going out over the next couple of weeks.

Got my ding letter today.

I was a significant longshot. I'm just surprised some of these schools didn't respond immediately with an old mimeographed rejection and my name handwritten into the blank at the top.

I was looking Mich's site and they estimate our living expenses around 18k.
How accurate is this?
I won't have a car and I'll probably spend my free time on skype with my family. So basically I'll have to spend with rent, food and books. Is it possible to have an "ok life" with less than 18k?

From what I understand, it's low but doable.

Michigan's adcomm is really nice. They are probably the most candid and easiest to deal with of all

Agreed. You didn't hear anything about the WL from them recently, did you?

On the waitlist, and will be withdrawing soon. Hopefully less competition for the rest of you on the waiting list.

no, but they've told me to keep in touch, and have been much more personal than other schools every time that I have emailed them

Going on a campaign to make sure you're there this fall. Might be tough considering I don't even know your real name.
