This exactly. My friend got his job to pay for his masters. He said it was the worst decision ever. They basically own him for the next few years. They have been giving him shit work and they know that he cannot move on because if he does he takes on the debt load.
+1
This is the same reason that I didn't apply for any PI scholarships despite planning on doing PI work. I'd hate my career being beholden to anyone.

+1 The explicit 10 year requirement for RTK really freaked me out even though PI/gov work is really what I want to do. Who knows what could happen in the next 13 years.

lmao no
Anyone who tells you to do this is uninformed at best, or actively trying to get you to self-destruct and ruin your life. Do not do this!

I'd get stuck with Liberty or something awful.

Quick question:
Do "unsolicited scholarship bumps" still exist? Also- How do schools chose who to give them to or why?
Thank you!

I've heard of schools giving unsolicited scholarship bumps to above-median applicants either right before or after a deposit deadline. They want to buy high numbers.

Any other K-JDs going through some hardcore senioritis? Very hard to get any work done when we've already been accepted to schools and this semester's grades don't really matter.

Michigan just pulled the trigger on yet another WL for me. NYU, Columbia, UVA... those are the last three schools I have any chance at with my numbers that haven't gotten back to me at this point. All the others have been waitlists except for Berkeley, who was a rejection. UVA's getting way too late considering ASD just happened and I still don't have even an interview request and if something is so horribly wrong with my application that even my safeties don't want me, what hope do I have of NYU and Columbia? I honestly don't know what to do right now. I'm completely defying MyLSN right now. Are early-mid January applications really that late?

If you don't mind me asking, what are your numbers? I'm sorry about the decisions you've gotten so far. It's rough

Can't speak directly to your situation, but I finished off most of my applications in that early-mid January, and haven't had anything resembling your results, so I don't think it's just that you missed the window.
Sorry that it's going that way for you.
