Utility expenses shot up during August/Sept when the AC was on, then dipped down as we got closer to finals. Probably because we were usually at the library studying. Same thing in Spring semester, it was the highest in January when the heat was on and then got progressively lower as the weather got warmer and we were at school more often.dsamuels wrote:I'm liking that price right there.cusenation wrote:final numbers are in for the utility expenses for me and my roommates, in case anyone wanted a point of reference to calculate their budgets

I spent part of yesterday looking at zillow / google maps to figure out what areas I'm interested in for housing day, everywhere is insanely cheap. Having lived in LA and the Bay Area I've paid almost double the monthly rent of a 2 bed/2 bath in Clayton to live in basically a hovel...cusenation wrote:Saying it's cheap to live in St. Louis is an understatement lol
Speaking of, I'm thinking of just getting a place within 20 minutes walking distance of the law school in Clayton or University City. Am I making a foolish move by not just getting a place in the CWE?
Edit: Found this neat site that pulls exif data on all photos on flickr and creates neighborhood boundaries using them. Here's the link to the St Louis page, it's sort of helpful for an out-of-towner like myself http://zetashapes.com/editor/29510

Personally i think it might be better to live in U-City as a 1L...most of your classmates will be in U-City and it's closer to the school. There's no "right" place to live really, my roommates and I chose CWE, but there were definitely times where i wished i lived in U-CityDredd_2017 wrote:I spent part of yesterday looking at zillow / google maps to figure out what areas I'm interested in for housing day, everywhere is insanely cheap. Registered for the June 19th housing day with U-City/Loop as my preferred neighborhood. I figure I'll stay an extra day or so and try to explore all the neighborhoods though just to get a feel.sublime wrote:I enjoyed living in u city fwiw.
Anyone else showing up for housing day?
Also what happened to Jimmy?

Sorry, it's been a weird semester at school. I have this chemistry professor who is a total jerk. I don't know what his deal is. For some reason, he thinks I'm self-entitled, and I think it's totally unfair. He plays favorites in class, let's some kids get away with murder, and it just totally sucks. I think he wants to teach a different class, but, come on, don't be a dick just because you don't have the job you want, right?Dredd_2017 wrote:cusenation wrote:Personally i think it might be better to live in U-City as a 1L...most of your classmates will be in U-City and it's closer to the school. Also, he doesn't even have the common courtesy to call me by my first name. He just calls me, "Mr. Potter."
